  1. I hope Lunardi's wrong. But with some mid majors (Butler and Nevada) that were locks not winning their conference tournament, it takes spots away from bubble teams. It would be nice if the Pac-10 got 6 teams in the tournament though. Plus, he has Illinois in the tournament right now and they don't deserve to be there, at least not over Stanford. I don't know why Illinois would be a lock. We haven't had what I call a significant win all year. Our biggest wins this year have been beating a bubble team at home and beating IU, who probably will be an 8-9 seed, at best.
  2. Unless Randle does something incredible next year, he'll make my biggest Illinois underachiever list with some other notables such as Larry Smith, Marcus Liberty, Bryant Notree and Richard Keene. Almost every night Randle is the most athletic guy on the court and he doesn't know how to utilize it.
  3. He also has Kansas State out. I don't understand that considering the three certain teams from the Big 12 will likely be a #1 seed, a #3 seed and a number #4 or #5 seed. Kansas State finished fourth and they can't even get a 10-12 seed?
  4. I'm kind of glad I'm not able to watch the game here. Without looking at any stats other than the halftime score, do we have a 2-1 turnover to assist ratio? I really do not like this team. We better be up by 10-15 with two minutes left or we're screwed. If it comes to a FT shooting contest down the wire.....like i said we're screwed.
  5. Texas beginning to show panic as they trail Baylor by 16. Texas just shooting to be shooting.
  6. All I can say about my alma mater (Illinois) is if the schedule makers give you a break where you don't have to play at Columbus or at Madison and you still finish the conference season at only 9-7 and you can't get to the conference semis, then you shouldn't get invited. The good news (if you want to call it that) is that with an NIT bid they should make it to the final four since I don't think they'll play a road game until NYC.
  7. They should still get a #1 in the West. If the committee punishes them for this loss then that tells me these three days mean more than the past four months. The key I think is what happens with the other 1's and 2's. if 1 or 2 of the 2's win the conference tournaments and all of them advance to at least the semis or finals, then I could definitely see UCLA getting pushed to a 2-it's not like they had a much, much better resume than the other teams before this. It was better, but it's able to be made up. I could be wrong, but I think UCLA, Kansas and Ohio State have the number 1's wrapped up no matter what happens this weekend. I could be wrong but it was my thought going into the weekend. What happens if UNC and Florida win their tourneys? Or TAMU? Again, I could be wrong, but I hope the committee looks at winning the regular season conference title with higher regard than the conference tourney. UNC is kind of limping into the ACC tourney and TAMU didn't even share the Big 12 title. So I don't see those two getting number 1 seeds even if they win their conference tourney.

  9. I wouldn't be surprised to see Washington winning the Pac-10 tourney.

  11. I still think UCLA is one of the four best teams in the country and will have them as a final four pick in my bracket.
  12. As longtime Illinois broadcaster, Jim Turpin, would say, "Illinois wins! Illinois wins!" Only because PSU played dumber than Illinois the last thirty seconds of the game.
  13. Illinois being Illinois. It's a two point game with 1:35 left. It's amazing after blowing so many games this year, they still don't know how to put a team away.
  14. I still say any team trailing Illinois by fewer than 10pts with under three minutes left should just foul us. We will be fortunate to hit one of two. That's why if we're invited to the big dance we're one and done. Any close game and we'll lose because we can't hit FTs.
  15. Another example of Illinois being one of the dumber b-ball teams in the country --- Pruitt, our center, fouls a jump shooter beyond the arc. I'm glad that Frazier is having a good game, but will he show up tomorrow?
  16. Nobody should even tell him he's good at making twos.
  17. Is the Pac-10 tourney only being shown on FSN West? I know CBS is showing the title game. Personally, I'd rather see the Pac-10 tourney than the Big East tourney. I've been seeing the Pac 10 tourney on my FSN channel, and I'm in the Southeast right now. Here in Big 12 country (I hate Big 12 country)we're watching the Big 12 Women's tourney. Ouch. UCLA game is on in about 15 mins, maybe that bumps the women? Next Pac-10 game we get here is 10:30 tonight.
  18. Barring any more long-shot tourney champions, I think K-State is in. Truthfully, I would rather see them in than my team (Illinois) in. At least KSU has beaten a couple of teams they weren't supposed to beat. Illinois can't say that.

  21. Illinois showing everybody that they're just not that good of a team. Already shooting horribly and turning the ball over..... all in the first three minutes. This team has no heart.
  22. Bill Madlock was one of my favorites, too. Part of that was due to the fact that we're from the same hometown (Decatur, IL). For what it's worth, there have been a lot of stories/rumors for the last thirty years that Madlock was traded for more reasons than just money. But it's a shame that he's the "forgotten" third baseman.
  23. He's been playing really pathetic today. Another awful shot just about seals the deal. Didn't get the game here in Topeka, but it seemed like another Illinois road game --- has lead can't hold it because they can't shoot and can't hit free throws. Some of the highlights I've seen showed McBride holding Haluska. I hope that wasn't the case the whole game. If so, I see why Haluska scored 26. All I can say is thank goodness we didn't play in Columbus or in Madison this year.
  24. It's funny to hear how quiet it gets in Austin every time Law takes a shot.
