  1. Using outstanding hitting tools at the plate, Vitters was named the Most Valuable Player of the Cape Cod All-Star Game last summer...Widely considered the best high school hitter available...Has a compact swing that will develop power down the road with strong ability to get the bat on the ball with consistency...Right-handed hitter who can handle any type of pitch like Vladimir Guerrero. Has amazing instincts and is very polished...Has the arm strength to play third in the big leagues, but will need to develop in the field. Could eventually land in the outfield if defensive skill at third doesn't progress..Brother Christian was drafted by Oakland in 2006. This could be good or very bad.
  2. Lower your sigining bonus. Vitters aint going to college after seeing that interview.
  3. im watching mlb.com and the commercials are all the different team commercials. they are terrible.
  4. it would be better to not invite the public than have like 10 guys in the background hooting and hollering. its embarrasing.
  5. what the hell. i havent seen that alignment with fonzie before.
  6. awesome. love tuning in and seeing the Cubs 1-0
  7. Kevin Matthews. That name should ring a bell to some posters on this board. My commute is only 10 minutes so i dont listen as much as i had in the past when i was driving 30 minutes. His show is both talk and music.
  8. too bad for them there were more Cubs fans there last night and i expect more of the same tonight Yeah...you could hear the crowd erupt when Fonzi hit that shot....almost as loud as if it were in Wrigley. Most animated ive seen the dugout this year too.
  9. April, May, Sammy. How bout April, May, Fonzie? June: .579/.579/1.156/1.735 8-)
  10. Who here thinks that? He really improved the team from when he took over. They just kind of stagnated their 3rd year. My dad who is a diehard Tiger fan was telling me 2 years ago how good the Tigers were going to be last year. So yeah I think Leyland did kind of walk into a good situation and Trammell kind of got thrown under the Bus. I also think Trammell deserves more Hall of Fame consideration than he gets Not just consideration. If you look at his numbers, he's a no-doubter. Truth be told I would much rather have had Trammell over Ozzie Smith in his prime. Trammell would have been a no-doubter if it wasnt for injuries. I also think that Lou Whitaker deserves more consideration Whitaker isnt on the ballot anymore because he got less than 3% the first time. His only shot is the Veterans Committee, and we all know how well that goes for players. Its a shame, he deserved better. I loved the Trammell/Whitaker combo growing up.
  11. His ISOD is freaking impressive too. Is this really our Ronny Cedeno? This is amazing.
  12. Is official. The Cubs are on fire. Look out.
  13. uh, not so much. I watch them knowing that they stink and will not win. I actually do that with all the teams I root for. Just because I cheer for them to win doesn't mean I'm crazy/dumb enough to believe that they actually will. well, i suppose then, i wonder why a person would invest time into a cause they don't believe in. force of habit.... plus i like baseball in general Yeah we are Cub fans. Its not like we are Cubs fans because we are used to winning.
  14. The conditions include: -- No further adverse involvement with law enforcement and full compliance with any requirements imposed by a court. -- Compliance with all league requirements, including counseling. -- No participation in any practices or other organized team activities during the period of the suspension. Johnson may, however, be present at the Bears' facility during the suspension for counseling sessions and other approved activities such as physical treatment or individual workout sessions. So he cant practice? Is that typical for a suspended player?
  15. Really? Maybe the routes he runs in LF arent the prettiest but he sure does gun down runners at the plate and can gun people trying to leg out a double really well. I though all his assist last year might of been a fluke. I dont see it that way anymore.
  16. I can see some truth to Olney, seperatly i doubt only Lee likes him or sticks up for him. I can totally see the bullpen not liking him. Good for Lou to rail on Hendry for the roster. Hendry has handcuffed Lou into making changes because of some atrocious contracts that Hendry is afraid to cut ties with. Scott Skiles was not well liked by the players when he came to Chicago. From what i remember hearing it was pretty nasty. It was Skiles way or the highway. Now, Skiles has team that plays great team basketball. Not sure this is far comparision. Wasnt Jack Mckean a hardass when he turned the Marlins around mid season. Sorry NSBB for bringin that up.
  17. I like Abreu's grey away game glove. Id trade him just to see that.
  18. Other: The wind blowing in at Wrigley.
  19. Should we start a poll on who the Cubs should take to get the boards feelings? The list shouldnt be that long because they are picking 3.
  20. Did Marshall even have 3 starts like this last year, let alone consecutively. I dont recall.
