  1. ‏@BradBiggs #Bears coach Marc Trestman: Docs cleared Jay Cutler to play and he is expected to start Sunday. Wow, that is really impressive.
  2. Brandon Marshall: "Jay's back. He's definitely in a position to make it out there this Sunday.
  3. I tend to agree with you, except for the "Trestman trying to fool the Lions." Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the playbook pretty much the same with McCown in the game? Maybe fewer shots down the field and getting the ball out quicker is more emphasized, but I can't say that I noticed a huge difference in play calling last Monday and during the Washington game vs. what we've seen with Cutler in there.
  4. It's no longer Chicago Tribune Live because the Tribune quit sponsoring the show, and if you notice, there's not a main sponsor of the show in its current form. With or without the Trib involvement, it's still a meatball show of the highest variety. I haven't watched it in a couple of years probably.
  5. Trevon Bluiett, after de-committing from Alfaud, commits to Xavier. The revamped Big East has recruited really well, with the most top 150 recruits for 2014 of any conference other than the 14 school ACC. Starting to think the basketball-only model may work just fine.
  6. im so immature
  7. I get what you're saying. But my allegiance to the Illini was cemented long before I ever set foot on a campus as a student. There was no way I could just switch (of course that is pretty much due to the fact that my father and many relatives were/are UI alums, and conditioned me to be that way). The Cubs and Illini are in my blood, there's no undoing that for me. And what about people who get an undergraduate degree from one school and a graduate degree from another? Does that confuse allegiances at all? I don't have a grad degree but from what I've heard from friends, your undergrad is your first love, unless it doesn't really have a legitimate athletic program. This, exactly. Undergrad is the number 1, and then grad school is a passive interest. Kinda like cheering for an AL team, like the Royals for instance.

  9. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/content/Image/12-22-2009/Chip-Caray.jpg Chip would have the leadoff hitter get on then waste 2 outs getting him to 3b, just to orgasm over a 2 out rbi. Especially if it were A LASER TO CENTERFIELD! LINE DRIVE BASE HIT CAUGHT OUT THERE
  10. For what? They're giving up no salary in that trade. Wasn't saying that's all they can/will trade but those are the players teams would want. Teams want Marquis Teague? fine, throw in erik murphy or whatever he's called
  11. Or Invesco Field if not for Brian Griese.
  12. Great, looking forward to non-stop Favre coverage for the next couple of days. Thanks, moran Rams.
  13. someone please help with a gif here
  14. Given the candidates that have been interviewed, or that the Cubs have been linked to, is there a common theme that we can derive from these candidates? I know Latin background, ability to develop young players, streamlined communication with the FO, etc. but is there one theme that's been more prevalent than any other during the interview/search process? Also, other than just being interested in the process and end result, do you guys really care about the whole manager thing? Before I started reading this site, I remember getting really excited about the Baker and Piniella hirings (started lurking the board around '06) but I've now come to the realization that in most cases, the search for a new manager is mostly a media-driven hoopla. Having said that, I'm coming around now to the idea that this hire is a bit more important than I initially believed. With the regression of castro/rizzo, the new manager hire is quite important as the next couple of years are absolutely critical for the FO's plan to come to fruition. Current market trends with respect to FA and how it relates to ownership's inability to spend is going to put the Cubs in a really huge hole if the prospects and Castro/Rizzo don't develop into above average/all-star level players, especially with the Cardinals {redacted} being loaded for the next 5-6 years.
  15. drafting a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round seems like such a losing proposition to me; how many of those guys turn out? i mostly can only think of guys with height concerns (Brees, Wilson), otherwise Andy Dalton seems like the upside Kaepernick, Nathan Enderle and Geno Smith.
  16. I have Bradford, Cutler, Cobb, and Wayne. Cutler, Don Julio, Doug Martin, Jermichael Finley, and Amendola. All on one of my teams.
  17. Cutler not out for year?!?! Yeah, no [expletive]. Packers, Lions, Ravens, and Rams....2-2 possible, or is the Briggs loss too much to overcome? well, if he's only out for 4 weeks, then he'll only miss 3 games and be back for the Rams. but the "at least 4 weeks" doesn't sound terribly encouraging.
  18. This summer, the early line on the Northwestern-Iowa game was NW -17.5. The line this morning has moved to Iowa -4.
  19. Pretty bummed about the Cutler injury, but given the state of the defense, I can't imagine that this team has a high ceiling anyhow. Tell me if I'm being overly dramatic, but the bears really needed that win yesterday, and I think that loss pretty much dinged any hopes for a playoff berth.
  20. Oscar Tavares and Carlos Martinez?
  21. Welp, this is pretty amazing: Who's the leader of the club that's made for you and me? Y-A-S, I-E-L, M-O-U-S-Puig Mickey Mouse! (Yasiel Puig) Mickey Mouse! (Yasiel Puig) Forever he shall flip his bat so high (HIGH HIGH HIGH!) Come along and sing the song of 3 + 63. Y-A-S, I-E-L, M-O-U-S-Puig
  22. right? i watched that game in a DORM ROOM. because i was a freshman in undergrad. that was so long ago. the way things are going now, i'll be watching the next cubs playoff game from the inside of a coffin. (i'm having vampiral reassignment surgery next month) I, too, was a freshman watching all of the playoffs in a dorm room. During game 1 of the NLDS, I got so pissed that they weren't bringing any runs in, i took my flip phone and hit it against my desk. Needless to say, the phone was a goner. My roommate was a bit horrified over my inability to manage my emotions. Doesn't top game 2 of 2008 NLDS though, when after the floodgates opened, I took a bud light and just poured it on top of my head. Yes, an entire beer. I was somehow hoping that the beer on my head would numb my emotions. Ok, back to the Blackhawks winning the cup in miraculous fashion, please.
  23. since you guys won't stop, can we talk about the time the blackhawks scored two goals in 17 seconds to win the stanley cup
