  1. He shouldn't be hard to catch. He will never see it coming
  2. Holy horsefeathers is he bad. I don't care if that's not all his fault, he's terrible.
  3. I'm shocked that the stiff couldn't feel the pressure coming. That is how you keep your starting job.
  4. 1) Where is Tree? 2) Tell that story, I've definitely never heard it. In 2004 there was a poster named Controversy. When we had the old picture thread, she posted a picture. Tree was impressed and started talking to her. We actually had an outing with me, tree, controversy and an old poster (his name is mark, drawing a blank on NSBB name) at a Cubs/Expos game (Scott Downs pitched a complete game shutout for Montreal). I believe this was their first meeting and they ended up dating for a bit, so I'm assuming they had sexy time.
  5. Not impressed with the defense on this drive. Yikes
  6. Speaking of tree, anyone remember how he became the only person to ever get laid by posting at NSBB?
  7. It might depend on the starter for the Cubs. I think absolutely start Contreras if its Lester. If its Jake or Kyle, you lean heavily in Willy's direction....you at least consider Avila if its Quintana. Maybe more reason to start Quintana since it may tilt the offensive advantage and doesn't overly affect the pitching advantage?? Also, not that Willy would've started tonight anyways but Avila catching Hendricks. Yeah, I could live with Avila catching Hendricks. Kyle does a pretty good job on his own of managing the run game. I like Contreras only because he provides a marginal pitch framing upgrade and Kyle so heavily relies on hitting corners to be effective.

  9. Sweet, I just read Romo is doing the game tonight.
  10. I think its interesting that the Red Sox and Astros open up a 4 game series at Fenway this weekend. Both still have something to play for as the Red Sox magic number to clinch the AL East is 2, while the Astros are only 1.5 games behind the Indians for the top seed in the AL. The interesting thing, to me, is that the most likely outcome after this series is the Red Sox and Astros playing against each other in the ALDS. So this weekend is almost like a chance to get some practice against the other team's hitters or pitchers. The Red Sox will almost certainly have to play it straight until they clinch the division, but how much will the Astros rest their guys to avoid the Red Sox getting more looks at them?
  11. A sober man does not allow themselves to become a bank account for his drunk ass buddy while hes gambling.
  12. Hendricks should be batting like 6th in that lineup
  13. Would they go Arrieta, Quintana, Lester then Hendricks? That's what the ESPN guys were saying during the telecast last night. This ESPN.com article suggests Hendricks, Arrieta, Q, Lester. How should Joe Maddon set up the Cubs' playoff rotation? I like that one. Hendricks has to be in your top 3. The only thing that bothers me about Arrieta 1st is that if his hammy flares up or he is ineffective because of it, then he's the only starter set up to pitch game 5 on normal rest. I would consider Q, Arrieta, Hendricks, Lester. I like Hendricks #2 over Jake, but I am assuming Jake won't pitch this Sunday, giving him 10 days rest between now and game 2...I don't think another 2 days helps him.

  15. Street sweeper but yeah. Damn I had forgotten about a lot of these memes.
  16. Some others for consideration: David is a robot The initial notice was a physical appearance black GEOVANY SOTO (too old for consideration? Probably) Tiny Face Rizzo Thick Onion Gravy Zambrano's black guy wasn't there another hccf contribution having to do with trying to attack a rattle snake with a tree branch or something? derwood's jorts derwood saying lots of things about things he doesn't actually know about mojo's hatred of shorts and flip flops tree's nachos the idea of the nomar thread being this holy grail of nsbb merely because it was lost and we will never get to see it again Look at how well that hard drive works Also FDB
  17. Or that everything that Starlin Castro does looks 30% cooler than it actually is because it's Starlin http://i.imgur.com/6MWvwWI.gif
  18. Yeah, this is irrationally annoying me. Not even a mention of Ian Happ doing this for months. SI corrected their article to mention that the Cubs did it first but the Yankees celebrations were better. Have they seen the gif with the boom mic hitting Happ in the head? How about Javy pretending to film using an old fashioned crank camera? Hell what about Javy pretending to provide color analysis sitting at the top of the dugout steps during the game?
  19. same thought i had lol The Brewers and the team from St. Louis are better than the Marlins and whoever the next best team in the East is. yes there are no vaunted teams in the NL East
  20. I hear emails are going out. Anyone selected? I signed up late...I thought I had until 11:59 PM the day that registrations ended, but apparently it was like noon that day. Hopefully I get selected for NLCS or WS
  21. Ever been to Nationals park before? It's the least interesting stadium ever built. Somehow you're always facing the sun no matter where you sit. I went there this year. It's a fairly boring ballpark. It actually reminded me a lot of the Reds park except instead of a backdrop looking at Kentucky, its a bunch of boring office buildings. I did like the beer selection and the Shake Shack inside however.
  22. uhhhh....WTF? Starlin at the center of this thievery.
  23. I don't think TBS/FS1 has a set time slot, it really depends on how MLB wants to schedule This year is interesting because if both WC1 teams win, you are looking at these series: Indians (Longest Drought) vs. Yankees Red Sox vs. Astros Cubs vs. Nationals Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks Since there are only 2 teams that aren't in CT or ET, it seems almost certain that Dodgers/DBacks would be the late game whenever there is a 4 game day. The other games are difficult to predict, but historically the MLB loves putting the Yankees at night and the fact that the Indians take the Cubs mantle as longest drought makes me think they will get the early evening game. I'm guessing Friday will play out like this: 12:00 - Red Sox @ Astros 3:30 - Cubs @ Nationals 6:30 - Yankees @ Indians 9:00 - Diamondbacks @ Dodgers Now for Saturday, would they really make the Dodgers play an early afternoon (for them) game after giving them the late spot the night before? Maybe, but I think its more likely its Cubs in the afternoon and Dodgers at night. Monday is another 4 game day and you are looking at the MLB deciding between Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park and Wrigley Field for the night game. Not looking great again for an evening game.
  24. Thanks TT, that's the kind of info I needed. If anyone is wondering what Nats fans are saying about the Cubs, leave it to your resident 'Obsessed What Other Team's Fans Are Saying About The Cubs' poster: http://www.wnff.net/index.php?topic=35740.0
  25. Pretty sure they are worse against LHP. Considering their 2 best hitters are lefty that would make sense Edit: Nvm they are pretty even
