  1. This is probably the easiest federation to make the World Cup in and the US has more resources than anyone else in it. There is 0 excuse for ever missing a World Cup. Honestly this is one of the more shocking sports moments in my life
  2. Cobi Jones is literally crying on air.
  3. Think of how much money FIFA just lost. They have to be pissed
  4. Well Pulisic will be what 24 in his first World Cup
  5. Holy horsefeathers. They blew the world cup
  6. And the Us Is out
  7. I'm just waiting for the "Panama Goal" tweet
  8. Off the horsefeathering bar.
  9. Wow US is currently 1 Panama goal from being eliminated completely
  10. Looks like we have to sweat out the other results. F this team. Don't deserve the berth but still hope CR and Mexico can keep their leads
  11. Well the Cubs will now play an entire series facing starting pitchers with ERAs under 3 - and win
  12. It sucks because it does have an impact on the series and they could have avoided it fairly easily.
  13. Rumor has it TBS said no to this proposal. And hey its in their best interest for Strasburg to pitch Game 4, increasing the chances of G5
  14. Oh man that's rough
  15. Actually I've been thinking about it, and I think that Dusty really is dumb enough to start Roark tomorrow if the game gets rained out. Potential reasons: 1) "I don't want to throw anyone off their rhythm and make Stras pitch a day early." 2) "Roark is our guy. He's won some big games for us. We need him in there to get us to a Game 5" 3) "In Game 5 you've gotta roll with your biggest horses. We need Big Stras [just assuming that's what Dusty calls him] in there." The quotes are in jest (sort of) but I could totally see that logic from Dusty.
  16. Dusty finally makes a long awaited change to the lineup and it's...moving Werth up at the expense of Rendon? Hahaha
  17. Eh, all things considered he had a pretty good day yesterday, and I'll take him in right over Heyward. Happy to see they're sticking with Schwarber, although I still don't know why he's batting behind Zobrist. Gives up some outfield defense, but we get our lockdown infield back, so it's fine. I wouldn't say a pretty good game. He had an awful start and a good finish. He started out 0-2 with the 2nd out being a 1st pitch groundout with 2 on and 2 out. He had a pretty bad error in the field on a weakish grounder by Harper that put runners at the corners with 2 outs for Rendon. But yes, nice hard hit double that led to the tying run and amazingly incredible play in the 8th to get Turner out which was huge leading off the inning with 2-3-4 due up.
  18. Might? I don't think there is any doubt we'd get Strasburg tomorrow and Gio on Thursday if the game today is rained out.
  19. Few things on Roark: People compare him to Kyle Hendricks (or did last year). This year has not been good but his FIP and xFIP of around 4.14 suggest hes getting a bit unlucky. He hasn't been pitching particularly well as of late (3.90 ERA over his last 14 starts, gave up 6 ER in his last start). He's allows a .618 OPS against RHB this year but that goes up to .834 against lefties, so expect another lefty heavy lineup. If you were going to consider having a game for Avila to start this series (and I'd lean towards no), this might be the one.
  20. Two rebuttals: 1. Both Mexico and Costa Rica can improve their FIFA ranking to get into a better selection pot in the WC draw, which is better than nothing. 2. If the USMNT can't at least draw T&T, they deserve nothing. I forgot about the fact that all teams are seeded now. I would never expect Mexico or CR to flat out tank a game but I don't see them putting max effort in facing squads that are desperate for points. Plus if they were really playing for better seeding, a draw doesn't help them all that much, they want to win, so they might be more aggressive on the attack and concede goals. Mexico's B team should hypothetically be better than Honduras though. Either way, I feel confident but you know how my mind works, always looking at the extreme possibilities that aren't likely to matter.
  21. I don't imagine we blow this, but it is a little unnerving that the 2 teams that have to win to eliminate the US (in the event of a loss - which is unlikely) are both playing at home against teams that have nothing to play for. You would think Mexico would help the US return the favor for 4 years ago and play for a point today but I don't think they give 2 shits about helping us.
