  1. This would be why people wanted to skip Jake and go to Kyle for this game. No doubt there is a chance that Jake is awesome, but he's had what 8 innings of work in a game since Sept 4th. There was always a chance his mechanics were going to be off and he was going to miss spots. He's gotten away with it mostly so far but starting to get better contact on him
  2. horsefeathering rain....we should be resting on the first of 3 off days prior to the NLCS
  3. Crazy that we will have to only face starters with ERA's under 3 this series regardless of how long it goes.
  4. That sucks....glad Jake limited the damage and only had to throw 3 more pitches. The only penalty is the single run (which obviously is huge)
  5. To be fair, pitchers don't have a strong incentive to throw a ball anywhere near the strike zone regardless of where Javy is batting. Not all of the time but much of the time. Although I will say that by hitting 8th, you are basically inviting Javy to swing even more freely than normal with RISP.
  6. Good stuff. Please don't let this be the uber aggressive Javy. Game 4 2016 NLDS Javy will be just fine.
  7. He had every right to. That was crushed...if the launch angle was a little lower that would be out even in this wind.
  8. Dusty: "This has been my most productive lineup" Then why did you wait for Game 4 to use it?
  9. This is Jake's 8th postseason start with the Cubs (and overall). Strangely enough, of those 8 starts this will only be his 2nd at home, and the last one was way back in Game 3 of the 2015 NLDS (otherwise known as Dong Fest 2015)
  10. This is all on Dusty. I don't know what actually happened but the fact that the end result is Strasburg getting a ton of blame and Dusty relatively little says all you need to know about how good of a manager Dusty is. If it really was Strasburg asking out, or if this was just a con from the start, either way his job is to deflect heat away from his players. Would Joe ever throw another Cubs player under the bus?
  11. Definitely not a absolute rule but my impression has been that more often than not when it's cool and rainy the wind is blowing in. That's why it's often blowing in early in the season and blowing out more frequently during the summer months.
  12. Has anyone ever tried to watch major sporting events on a cruise? Pretty easy to get the games? I'm going on a cruise this weekend/next week and I knew all along that this might interfere with the NLCS and prepped my wife months in advance. But now I'm starting to feel guilty that for 5 out of the 7 days of the cruise, I'll be preoccupied at night if the Cubs advance. Normally I'd be fine (post World Series win) following the game on my phone and streaming the big moments but of course on a cruise I won't have cell phone reception, and the in room TVs dont have TBS so I'll have to head to the one sports bar on the ship to watch the games. I know 1st world problems.
  13. Yeah I was more talking about trying to tell people the US was 2 inches away from making the World Cup. Could be true but this was a systematic failure that starts at the top. The fact that we even were in a position to be eliminated is completely unacceptable
  14. Is this guy horsefeathering serious? [tweet] [/tweet]
