  1. that’s a good move I guess
  2. It’s also the Rule 5 draft tomorrow
  3. I'm not sure how to take that comment TBH

  5. (age opening day 2019) C - Contreras (26) 1B - Rizzo (29) 2B - Baez (26) SS - Russell (25) 3B - Bryant (27) LF - Schwarber (26) CF - Yelich (27) RF - Harper (26) Would this be a good opening day 2019 lineup?

  7. I'm trying to figure out which acquisition would be worse, Stanton or Ozuna. With Stanton they would have been hamstrung financially and we could continue to mock their annual compensation pick. In addition, Stanton is always an injury concern and a year older. Ozuna had a monster year last year and will certainly cost more in prospects, but will be dramatically less expensive, giving the Cardinals more payroll flexibility with potentially a similar value player.
  8. Out of curiosity why is Kipnis a bad pickup if its a buy low type of thing? He was bad last year but was a nearly 5 win player in both 2015 and 2016, only 30 and a relatively ok contract the next 2 seasons. I know we don't really need an OF, but he's not someone I could completely avoid acquiring in a trade. He's a 2B, not an OF. But either way, I want no part of him. He was barely replacement level last year, injury-plagued and 30. He's just not worth putting us $14 million closer to the luxury tax threshold. Sorry I thought I read they were moving him to OF full time, or considering it. Either way, he'd be an OF here. He was worth half a win in a poor injury plagued season. The last 3 years he played 140+ games he was worth 4.5, 4.9 and 4.8 fWAR (2013, 2015, 2016). The injuries are always a concern with him but to add a potential 4+ win player, 14m is not a lot. I'm gonna stop because it sounds like I'm advocating for him, but its more of a 'not understanding why hes a hard pass' type of argument.

  10. I put it in the Winter Meetings thread and it is/was discussed there [expletive] I only read the most recent page. Figured after 3 hours I was probably missing the discussion somewhere
  11. Are we not talking about this elsewhere or am I missing something? [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet]https://twitter.com/carriemuskat/status/940781865555972097[/tweet]
  12. That’s the guy UMFan loves to hate follow, right? obsessively loves to hate follow
  13. Sorry I might have missed the discussions, my bad. Just seems inconceivable but I guess with pre-arb players making up a lot of their offensive WAR they can move some money around and afford him.
  14. I'd love it if it's the Cardinals; trade off what few parts they have for a guy who the Yankees are going to be gunning for one season later? Yes please. How can the Yankees afford Machado? Or do they just not give a damn about the luxury tax now?
  15. Bears are 6.5 point dogs. Have no idea why they are randomly playing on a Saturday. I thought the NFL did away with Saturday games. Oh well, one step closer to NFL 7 days a week. Go Mitch
  16. I hope if he gets traded its to another potential Harper suitor.
  17. Honestly I’m going to just assume we are getting Harper at this point.
  18. Some details on the Cubs Ohtani meeting
  19. It's almost like rushing to judgement on a rookie QB with limited college starting experience after 6 games is not smart. I know most haven't but you know who you are.
  20. Bears 3-0 against AFC North, Steelers 5-0. I guess the H2H comes into play at that point. On the flip side, Steelers are 3-1 against the NFC North, Bears are 0-4
  21. New season high in points and the offense is up to around 470 yards for the game.
  22. If we sign Cobb does this pretty much lock us into a Lester, Hendricks, Quintana, Cobb, Chatwood rotation for the next 3 years?
  23. Thatdontmakenosense.gif Did i dream Chapman was a player that helped the Cubs win a WS? How is Starlin associated at all with Gleyber? He’s not complaining about the trade from the Cubs perspective he’s just making an humorous observation. Starlin was traded for Warren who was traded back to the Yankees with Torres for Chapman. Chapman resigned with Yankees. Then Starlin was traded for Stanton. Of course this is leaving out whatever minor leaguers are going to Miami but basically that’s what happened.
