With the Bears 3-5 and 1 win in the conference and already losing tiebreakers to Atlanta, NO and halfway to losing to GB and MIN, our odds arent that great of making the playoffs. If Hilton is available and the price is right of course I'd love to grab him and give him an extra half season of working with Mitch. But if we have to pay a premium to get him in season (and thus far, trades made have given no evidence that an in-season premium exists), I'd take my chances in the offseason where there will be multiple ways to improve the WR position. Hes 27 years old, and who would be better in the offseason? A WR combo of Meredith and Hilton would be pretty strong. Id give up our 2nd rd + combo of 3-4 in later drafts Not necessarily whose better but in the offseason you can improve by trade, the draft and FA. The Bears are set up to again have a good amount of cap space so while there aren't a ton of great WRs out there, there are guys like Pryor, Watkins and Landry out there that can be had for cap space instead of more valuable draft picks. Or if you go the trade route there will likely be more than just Hilton available. I probably don't want to burn another high pick on a WR but that option is available too. Would any of these options be better than a prime Hilton? Probably not but there is a decent chance of acquiring a good to very good receiver for less cost in the offseason. That said, if we went and got Hilton and it cost us a 2, (which is probably going to be in the 10-15 range in the 2nd round), I'd be ok with it even if I'm not a big fan of giving up top draft picks for WRs. I also see there are multiple other teams listed as having interest in Hilton so there's a chance the price goes up.
