If he is legit reporting this, it makes sense that some guy with an inside source like wet butt would leak this out before the Cubs want the news out there, which would be why all the beat guys quickly got the same message from their legitimate sources denying it. Or maybe I'm grasping at straws

It’s clear that this isn’t just a blip or a random streak in the middle of a terrible season. I’m not saying they are actually good or are going to make the playoffs. Perhaps but probably not. But the days of being a 3-20 quality team are gone.

it could be that they don't have money for him because they are earmarking the money for Darvish. Either way, the fact that the Astros are in on Yu should alleviate anyone that still had concerns about his WS performance. the fact that having those concerns would be really stupid for a front office to do should also alleviate that. if we still had a horsefeathers gm, i'd be concerned about said GM having concerns about his WS performance, though. I meant from a fan's perspective but yeah

I don't think Hicks got screwed or anything for not making the Pro Bowl (he played well enough but his team sucks so w/e), but he was chosen as a FOURTH alternate at his position? That seems strange. -

Damn, that's some ruthless negotiating Theo. Could have at least started by having Jason Hammel come in and explain what happens when you don't cooperate with the Cubs FO.
