  1. So glad Chris Berman doesn't do this anymore so I don't have to hear horsefeathers like "BACK BACK BACK ALL THE WAY TO ANNAPOLIS"
  2. I think his numbers will be tempered by him instinctively flipping his bat after every HR and then having to go and retrieve it
  3. Last year with how the Cubs ended the half and the fact that their only All-Star was Wade Davis I pretty much skipped all the All star game festivities. This year I am pretty excited to watch tomorrow and Tuesday. Hope Javy and Schwarber do better than Bryzzo in 2015
  4. Jeez Cain took an awful route to that ball. He might have gotten it if he read it better off the bat. Probably hard to too in the rain though.
  5. 5 ahead in the loss column is...pretty big.
  6. I like it. It’s a 5 run lead against a bad team but at the same time it’s sort of a high leverage situation for someone making their third appearance ever. Joe likes to throw new guys in big situations to see how they respond. I might have had a short leash for him though and pulled him after the walk
  7. Hah Pat and Ron have been talking up Lester’s bunting skills during both his ABs and both times he’s failed in his bunting attempts.
  8. Haha Brewers lose They blew leads with 2 outs in both the 9th and 10th innings If the Cubs hold this lead and win they will be 5 up in the loss column
  9. He’s a sad sad man. If this isn’t a shtick, I feed bad for him. Also his last one is hilarious if I’m reading his intentions right. The bullpen arm that we only brought up because CEJ is on paternity leave and is pitching to contact with a giant lead is getting hit hard so that means we need bullpen help (despite the fact that we have the 4th best bullpen ERA in baseball)
  10. Unreal Javy. He seems to have 1-2 ABs a game where he goes yard or almost does
  11. That wasn’t surprising to me. Rosario didn’t look sharp at all. Was surprised he wasn’t taken out after a batter reached in his second inning
  12. On second thought it was strange that Joe didn’t take the extra day of rest for Kyle after a 110 pitch game. I’m guessing Lester asked/was told to go Sunday so he can’t pitch in the All Star game but Kyle just does not look sharp today after such a dominating performance 5 days ago
  13. He seemed to figure it out more as that inning progressed. I was referring more to his pitch count which is now at 70 through 2.1 IP
  14. Trending like another game where we need 4 innings from the pen
  15. Since their 3-18 start the Reds have gone 40-34 with a +27 RD (would have looked a lot better without their 15 run loss this week), or basically an 88 win pace. Obviously they won’t make the playoffs but they’ve been playing like a playoff contender for almost half a season. Should they even sell any major pieces at the deadline or stay quiet and look to build on what they have in the offseason?
  16. The Cubs are the farthest ahead in 1st than they’ve been at any point this year
  17. Yeah, that’s why I still see this as a 35 win team. Defense will be atrocious. I’m hating the Lavine deal more and more now. He’s going to eat up quite a few possessions while being a giant negative on defense and were stuck with him for 4 years
  18. Would be nice to be guaranteed of ending the night in sole possession of 1st before even taking the field
  19. Didn’t someone express concern about being 4-5 games out of first at the break like 2 days ago?
  20. Brewers 3 outs away from dropping game 1 today Edit: and they go down quietly in the 9th. Cubs 0.5 up
  21. It’s not really high risk at all
  22. It started when he was in like AA and he was talking about how great his team's lineup was, and he knew himself and two other top-100 prospects. He went down the list saying "some guy" for everyone else. Edit: Found it. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=63058#p3094506 This was the thread where we were excited that Arismendy Alcantara was going to get a couple of days up for Darwin Barney's paternity leave but we were worried Renteria wouldn't play him. And IMB was right, that kind of stuff seems *hilarious* and not annoying in retrospect. I know the story but it turned into a meme where if for example players went into a slump Javy would forget their name and stuff. Now I’m convinced that the Beatles didnt do enough in their career for Javy to know who they are. I’m pretty sure Javy out of ignorance called his wife ‘honey’ or ‘you’ until she produced his child.
