    Happ is a .670 OPS vs lefties this year. Caratini is .574. I don’t think anyone would have minded if they let Happ hit and PH Almora for the pitcher. But like someone else said, he basically picked Caratini to bat over Happ. Yeah but Caratini’s sample size is like 20 PA. He had an OPS over 1.000 in an equally small sample size last year. With that little to go off of you have to assume normal platoon splits are the way to go

    Seriously though Contreras sometimes takes some awful ABs in big situations.

    Yeah but he didnt start out the inning attacking hitters with a 3 run lead, lots of nibbling which put him at the mercy of the ump. Lead off single was an on 0-1 count. The ump was stupid but they were all close enough to call balls

    Not totally on him here. . Seeing eye single, getting really squeezed, and then a ball that should be caught. Obviously not a 'good' outing, but could definitely see him getting out of this.
