  1. I’m old and out of touch. I only know who three of those people are, and I’m clearly meant to be impressed by that lineup. I dunno, I think they meant to capture a large mix of different types of sports fans. I don't think you are necessarily out of touch if you can't recognize a surfer, skateboarder or motocross rider.
  2. https://theathletic.com/584702/2018/10/11/what-firing-chili-davis-says-about-the-myth-of-the-cubs-way/ Holy crap what an awful take
  3. Painful loss giving up the tying goal with 27 secs left then losing in OT. What a weird start to the season, giving up like 700 goals but all 4 games have gone into OT
  4. Maybe Bryce’s and Kris’ dads can be co-hitting coaches
  5. rmack your thread won but please rename this “the Chili has gone bad” because that was a sweet title
  6. Thank God. Sorry Chili you seemed like a nice guy but you needed to go
  7. Lets be insanely cocky all offseason up until the first thing that goes wrong and we can do a complete 180
  8. 2003 - Marlins 2004 - Red Sox 2005 - White Sox 2006- horsefeathering 83 horsefeathering win horsefeathering Cardinals 2007 - Red Sox AGAIN I was pretty convinced that some kind of higher power did actually hate the Cubs. It felt like weird sweet relief when the Phillies won in 2008. Seriously this was the worst. First coming so close and watching the team that beat us in heartbreaking fashion win it, then watching the only 2 other teams within 40 years of our WS drought winning it all including our "rivals" in the city (watching brand new Sox fans take over), and then our arch rivals win with the shittiest WS season ever, followed by 2 straight years of getting swept out of the playoffs and then a 7 year rebuild. Thank God that is over with and now the most pissed we can get is when we have the best record in the league (through 162 games) and don't play in the NLDS.
  9. “This is gonna be a tough play....Nunez...The Red Sox...win the ALDS!”
  10. Yeah, I'll be rooting for the AL regardless in the WS. My order is Astros Red Sox Yankees Dodgers Brewers I get the Astros hate but for some reason I don't really have it. They've been in the AL for 6 years and were mediocre at best their last 7 years in the NL (08 at 86-75 was their only solid year). And they generally go out there and hit a lot of dongs. Any Astros haters here are just jealous fat babies. My Astros hate instantly vanished when they joined the AL. I treat them like an expansion team or something. It helps that they were in the middle of a rebuild when it happened though, if this was still the Berkman/Pence Astros I'd still hate them.
  11. Wards save percentage through 3 games: .843 (14 GA in 89 shots). Again defense has a lot to do with that but he looks really damn slow and often not in good position to make a save. How much longer until we can get Crawford in there?
  12. The defense sucks but Cam Ward kind of blows Awesome finish though. For those that didn’t watch, Kane tied it with 90 seconds left, then 20 seconds later the Leafs took the lead. Finally Kane scored again with 29 secs left to send to OT. leafs then scored about 10 seconds into OT
  13. Another Toews goal. Maybe he is back from the dead
  14. The Brewers will be 31-10 with a +85 RD in their last 41 games. That means that for over a quarter of a season, they have been playing at a 123 win pace.
  15. Bears have a 1.5 game lead in the NFC north, that’s crazy. Also... season point differential: Bears +46 Packers +1 Lions -12 Vikings (with a min left in their game): -18
  16. This is going to be a very vaunted NLCS Of course the Rockies score 2 whole runs in the series. I think even the Cubs could have gotten 3
  17. The 2016 Giants and 2015 Cardinals were both pretty weak. The 2015 Cardinals won 100 games. They weren’t weak. I’m aware of that. Despite all that i didn’t feel like they had any truly elite hitters or pitchers. They were good like any playoff team is but they seemed weak and ripe for beating
  18. The 2016 Giants and 2015 Cardinals were both pretty weak.
  19. Cant wait until he hits 13 HRs in his first Cubs season - and is 2nd on the team.
  20. I watched some of the game. The defense looked slow and atrocious...will probably be a long season but maybe they can sneak out the 8 seed or something.
  21. The Robinson pass especially was awesome. He failed so badly placing a ball in the end zone to him the previous game. That one was more of a fade than him dropping one in his arms 20 yards downfield but its related to the general discussion of accuracy and ball placement. Also, Mitch was so good and so in control in that game, I started to buy into the idea that it was more the opponent and the scheme than him making great reads and plays, but all of the analysis I've seen on the game suggests that he made good throw after good throw in the game. It was an excellent performance. Not that PFF grades are the bottom line in evaluating players, but they do at least grade each player on every play based on how they performed which is better than just looking at raw numbers. But anyways, Mitch had a grade of 93.7 on Sunday....to compare (and maybe its not a good comparison with it being a different side of the ball), Mack has a season grade of 92.1.
