  1. The Bills have now outgained the Bears in this one on offense
  2. Completely forgot that this is the Bears first game in this stadium in 16 years because the 2010 game was in Toronto
  3. Cohen really has to work on his instinct to run backwards. Seems to be immediate every single time he’s looking for no gain. 1 out of 5 times something good happens, the other 4 times he loses 5 yards
  4. Kap chimes in #PTR If this is true and I’m still dubious I’d be mad that we went after Darvish at the expense of Harper
  5. So Northwestern is basically 2 games up in the Big Ten west with 3 to go. With Minnesota and Illinois still on their schedule there is a really good chance that Northwestern is playing Michigan or Ohio State in Indy Edit: in fact because Wisconsin and Purdue still play each other, Northwestern needs to win one of their last 3 Big Ten games to clinch a spot in the game Second Edit: nvm that would leave one of them with 2 losses meaning NW has to win 2 more
  6. If I were to show you a 3 hour and 37 minute video with highlights from every 2016 Cubs game, is that something you might be interested in?
  7. Another rough grade for Mitch: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000983193/article/midseason-qb-index-rodgers-at-no-3-brady-no-10?campaign=tw-nf-sf201350541-sf201350541&sf201350541=1&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral #26 Mitchell Trubisky He's the most divisive quarterback in football, at least according to the stats. ESPN's QBR has him ranked seventh overall and his fantasy stats are undeniably large. DVOA has him 20th, while the graders at Pro Football Focus have him ranked as the worst pure passer in football by a wide margin. My rank is closer to PFF's because of all the interceptions he's lucked out of thanks to drops by defenders, and all the open receivers that he's missed. 2018 stats: 7 games | 64.6 pct | 1,814 pass yds | 7.6 ypa | 15 pass TD | 6 INT | 296 rush yds | 2 rush TD
  8. Same here. The Cubs are getting Harper
  9. Hell horsefeathering no on McCutchen. Rather try to upgrade the roster through trades
  10. The trolling continues
  11. Yeah. Bortles had 1.3 TD:INT ratio and a 3.2% INT rate his first two years. Trubisky right now is at 1.7:1 and 2.3% That's a pretty big difference. Not throwing picks is something Trubisky is pretty decent at for a young QB. I think they keep stats somewhere of number of dangerous passes. I'd like to see how that compares because it seems like Mitch has been lucky with throwing interceptable balls that werent caught. It's possible that his INT rate could regress in a hurry.
  12. So basically we save $6m on salary like we would have but have to give up a pretty nice trade chip to do it.
  13. Yes this has been exactly my take. Harper has been in the financial plans for the Cubs for multiple years, Hamels has been a potential part of their plan for like 3 months. Anyone who thinks the Cubs are going to take a Hendry-like "shuffle the deck chairs" approach to the offseason is sorely mistaken.
  14. Also, I am so glad that I did not notice Bryant slipping and the ball going high while it was happening...I might not have lived long enough to see the ball hit Rizzo's glove.
  15. I can't remember, are you the person who shares a birthday with me? If so happy birthday! No presents anyone can give me can top the present the Cubs gave me 2 years ago.
  16. I don't know why they traded for Kintzler if they were expecting a payroll crunch after this season. I mean they couldn't expected more than a marginal upgrade at best with him in the pen right? At that point they were likely expecting Morrow back, Strop was healthy, Edwards hadn't imploded yet and they had Cishek, Wilson and if Darvish came back Monty to fill out the pen. We didn't "need" Kintzler, even the one that's shown to be good in previous years.
  17. "instead we dropped him into coverage half the time"
  18. Yeah thats pretty sweet. One of the few times I can't immediately criticize something the Bulls do.
  19. 3 times this week I've come across a national writer referring to Mitch as the Blake Bortles of the North, which I get on some level but I really think its premature to turn him into a national joke like Bortles is at times.
  20. [tweet] [/tweet] I don't necessarily believe this tweet but if it were true I'd be so disappointed if we weren't even in this Edit: Oh wait nightingale...this is good news!
  21. Not sure where its best to put this so I'll put it here. Grant Brisbee wrote about the top 50 Free Agents this year. Posting because...Grant Brisbee https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2018/10/31/17965612/mlb-free-agents-2018-2019-list-ranking-offseason
  22. I believe you’re right even though I don’t quite get the logic of the PA req That was an open question at the time it was signed too. There is no reason why Heyward would request this requirement for the opt out, and it doesn't make sense for the Cubs to want it since the only way he's getting less than 550 ABs is if he's hurt or he's not good enough to play every day. I have a feeling that Heyward wanted 2 opt outs, and the Cubs wanted to steer him towards taking the first one, as they knew guys like Harper and Machado would be available this offseason plus expected Jake to leave, Lester to be declining, etc so they wanted payroll flexibility. Also because even before he started to suck at the plate, the skills that made him the most valuable would start to decline towards the back half of the contract. Basically the Cubs were hoping that this 8 year contract would only be 3 years long
  23. Not worth its own thread but since we are talking about options and opt-outs here, Heyward has one this year right? I highly highly doubt that he will exercise the opt out but until I see that he hasn't .001% of me will hold out hope.
