  1. I'm never going to complain about the Chapman trade because we won the title, but he paid like 130 cents on the dollar for him too. I feel like in season trades can often vary wildly on value depending on a number of factors that aren’t there in the offseason.
  2. based on the remaining schedule, it looks like WAS has 2 remaining AFC games, while the Bears have completed their AFC schedule. Bears are 2-2 against AFC while WAS is 0-2. So, their 6 wins are all against NFC teams, and Bears also have 6 NFC wins. So, if WAS manages to win their last 3 games, to finish 9-7 and the Bears also finish 9-7, WAS will have 7 NFC wins and the Bears would have 7 as well. So you go past that tie breaker and probably end up at some sort of strength of schedule thing to get there. Yeah its the common games tiebreaker that beats the Bears. They are 4-0 in common games (wins over ARI, GB, TB and NYG) and the Bears are 2-2 and the only remaining game is Washington's second game against the Giants. Edit: Also I don't know why I called it H2H, I just meant they clinched the tiebreaker, my bad
  3. I'm pretty sure if the Bears won and the Redskins, Panthers and Eagles all lost this weekend, the Bears could only be passed for a WC spot by the Redskins (who have clinched a H2H over the Bears). Given the Redskins QB issues, I think its safe to say that they will not finish 9-7. Looking at remaining schedules CHI: vs. LAR, vs. GB, @ SF, @ MIN WAS: vs. NYG, @ JAX, @ TEN, vs. PHI PHI: @ DAL, @ LAR, vs. HOU, @ WAS CAR: @ CLE, vs. NO, vs. ATL, @ NO Washington's is the easiest but they are the weakest team right now. Philly's is a murder's row, Carolina's is not much better, but the week 17 in NO might be much easier due to NO clinching everything they need to clinch, so looks quite a bit easier if the goal is to not lose twice (which would make it impossible to pass Bears).
  4. Indians legend Jim Thome who grew up a Cubs fan here to tell you to sign with the White Sox
  5. Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin sounds like a great start to the rotation for the 2 weeks that Strasburg isnt on the DL each year.
  6. Wow, spending Bryce money or using this to lure him back?
  7. Kaepernick coming back to play for the team with a racial slur for a nickname. Didn't see that one coming.
  8. Meanwhile, #PTR is ordering Giordanos for dinner instead of Pequod's because he has a 2 for 1 coupon.
  9. I keep reading other Michigan fans on twitter saying that they are mad Urban is stepping down because Michigan will have never beaten him. Nevermind the fact that they did (he was just at Florida at the time), but I don't care who is coaching Ohio State, I just want Michigan to beat them. If Michigan wins The Game in 2022 and no Michigan fan is going to care if an OSU fan says 'yeah but you never beat Urban'.
  10. And yet I still believed he looked notably better than at least 5-6 bears backups over the last 15 years So I wanted to actually come up with what this list looked like: Craig Kenzel Jonathan Quinn Chad Hutchinson Todd Collins Caleb Hanie Would be the clear bottom 5. Hanie and Collins saw their time in pretty limited action in 2010-11 (though notably with the critical playoff game against GB). Those other 3 all occurred IN A SINGLE SEASON (2004). I'm retroactively awarding Lovie Smith Coach of the Year award for winning 4 games in his inagurual season with those sad sacks starting 13 games. Craig Kenzel has a winning QB record! I remember being excited about that Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys in 2004 and by like halftime I turned it off and found something else to do because both QBs were so f’ing bad
  11. Or making one read and then just freezing in the pocket in terror. That's actually a pretty accurate description of Chase Daniel all day long. At no time do I recall Daniel looking comfortable in that game. I don't know if it was the field conditions, the weather, lost confidence after the first pick 6, the defense getting some pressure early or a combination of everything I just mentioned, but he just looked terrible in every aspect of his job. I get that he is rusty from doing nothing more than holding a clipboard for the last dozen or so years, but he was painful to watch. And yet I still believed he looked notably better than at least 5-6 bears backups over the last 15 years
  12. yeah this is one of the silliest statements I've ever seen on NSBB, sorry Wilson An organization is more than just a GM and a President. Same ownership group over that time. That's fine, but as President of the Arbitrary End Points Fan Club, even I think this is way too selective of sampling. In 20 years they've won 0 titles, 0 conference titles and appeared in 1 conference finals. Their record in those 20 years is 741-875, so they've been playing 37 win ball over the last 2 decades. They have not been the worst organization in basketball, not even close, but they are not close to the best either. Do you think a Blue Jays fan is grouping their 90s championships into their evaluations of their franchise?
  13. Wasn't his statement on Friday basically an admission of guilt?
  14. lol yeah this is one of the silliest statements I've ever seen on NSBB, sorry Wilson
  15. The wrong people got fired. I'm not saying Fred is some awesome coach that deserved to stay, but I don't know what he has done this year so far to get fired. I haven't really watched the Bulls all year though so I could be missing something.
  16. This team does not lose a lot but when they do it’s alway painfully close with a few plays going differently he result could be different. Losses by 1,3,7 and 3 points. Crazy
  17. 15 losses in their last 18 games. Good God are they bad. Never thought I’d see a team with the Kane/Toews/Keith core look so...bad
  18. McCarthy fired. Game against the Packers in 2 weeks just got slightly harder
  19. Ok positivity coming back. If Washington loses to Philly tomorrow there will be 3 teams tied for first team out in the NFC (WAS, PHI, CAR) So 3 teams that the Bears are 2 games clear of. No H2H tiebreakers to worry about for them so I think conference record is next Chi 6-2 Was 6-4 Phi 3-5 Car 4-5 Washington is the only one that the Bears really have to worry about there and they are by far the worst of those 3 teams. I’m pretty sure at this point 9-7 would get the Bears in the playoffs. That said I could see the Bears bouncing back finishing 11-5 or something too. But good to know that only 1 of our last 4 games will probsbly get us in
  20. Bears have only put together 1 strong road performance this year, and that was against Buffalo. The rest were losses to GB, Miami and New York and that iffy win over Arizona and the Detroit game wasn’t easy but there were a lot of extenuating circumstances there so won’t dock them for that The SF game should be a gimme but always trouble going to West coast and playing. Let’s hope the Bears are still in a super strong position by that point
  21. Which cost the Bears the game, that is primary reason they lost. There are several reasons. Also his pick 6, his other INT thrown in FG range, defense looking really beatable after halftime etc
  22. Bears need to at least split the homestand coming up. My fear is that McCarthy will be fired tomorrow and a new coach will breathe some life into the Packers
  23. Conference loss too. Not great for tiebreakers for WC. That said, I believe the bears will have a 2 game cushion for a WC spot unless the Seahawks and Redskins both win
  24. certainly understand the play call. Just wish we had a QB that could make that throw. Or hang onto the ball and not fumble it 3 times on a do or die drive
  25. On this drive. He fumbled at least one other snap today
