Well it’s looking like the Cubs will drop this one. Moves them to 8-8 since the schedule started getting tougher. Which is perfectly fine (playoff teams routinely have stretches like this) but their level of play has certainly dropped off of late. Whatever magic the Cubs coaching staff used on the pitching has worn off. They had that 1-6 stretch and almost every pitcher sucked. Then they had a hot streak where almost every pitcher was great. Now they are back to most of the staff struggling, though not quite as bad as the 1-6 start
I was trying to be patient with Yu and I know the pitching conditions aren’t great but I’m starting to think he’s mostly finished. Please tell me I’m stupid and call me out when I’m wrong And if he is finished, how fitting that the last time he was relevant as a pitcher he was shutting down the Cubs season in the NLCS
I honestly think the Reds are a playoff contender if their pitching holds up all season Yes we should beat them more frequently than 25% of the time but there are people (not here necessarily) that are treating losing to the reds like losing to the Orioles
That ball had so much spin that I want to give him a pass but that has happened too much this year. His defense has been an arm and not much else lately, IMO. yeah im not blaming him, just pointing out the bad luck that led to Votto getting on.
