Edmonds' dong against STL when he bat flipped and glared into their dugout was a good one too. I've never 180'd on a player before or since like Jim Edmonds. I never liked him...appreciated his contributions but still hated him.

wasn't that a meaningless game though? I tried to look for that HR earlier on YouTube and couldn’t find it. It was mid-Sept against the Brewers. The Cubs hadn’t clinched yet so the game wasn’t completely meaningless. Believe DLee had a walkoff single in like the 11th to win it

Yeah you are almost certainly right. Contreras came in as a defensive replacement for Miggy immediately following the inning, and from rewatching that inning, I know Grant Dayton (lefty) was warmed up and ready to come in. Another factor in walking Cogs was that he was 8-17 lifetime against Blanton heading into that AB and I don't think Dayton was quite ready at that point. But regardless of everything else, the Intentional Walk was primarily to get Chapman out of the game. Just a pretty big gamble to put the go ahead runner at third in the 8th inning, especially when you are walking a guy who wasnt on a major league roster 2 months before and you are pretty much guaranteed to not get a good matchup with the next hitter.

Yeah I also felt the same was in Game 5 when it was 1-1 in the 6th with Lester going thinking we can't waste a Lester start with Kershaw and Hill going the next 2 games. Thankfully some player hit a 2 run HR and then the bats busted out for a fairly comfortable finish. Also, I do recall that about the Giants. Also the Cubs swapped out Seal Boy with Rob Z for that NLCS just in case they needed another lefty. I don't think he ended up pitching though. Also regarding the Miggy HR: Never forget that Dave Roberts elected to walk Chris Coghlan with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs in a tie game to bring up Montero. His logic was getting Chapman out of the game but damn did that not work out for him.

Yeah that one was so unexpected especially after he missed a meatball the pitch before and the count was 0-2. So awesome.

Also not technically a Cubs home run, but he put us into the 1998 Wild Card game when he walked off the Rockies against the Giants. Yes now that Dusty isn't forcing him into the 2 spot every game I can appreciate the many (ok like 3) good things that Neifi has done for the Cubs The series after that game the Cubs swept the Giants (in a series I love because LaTroy Hawkins had a hand in blowing every game), and I believe Neifi had at least 2 big hits in that series, including a walkoff. I only remember this because I was at the walkoff game with a friend from out of town who is a bit quirky with his baseball fandom and was talking all day about how Neifi was his favorite player and every time he's gone to a game that Neifi played in, he's had a big hit. And sure enough he did.
