  1. interesting
  2. the whole reason it is happening is because his control is being manipulated by service time issues. alas True...well at least he can play opening day
  3. I'm glad this is happening...one less player's control manipulated by service time issues.
  4. Here's another one partially about our huge FA acquisition this winter being the most clutch player in baseball since 2010 (I'm still reading it I think that's what its getting at) http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/25900712/daniel-descalso-outhit-giancarlo-stanton-year
  5. My level of interest is at like 2014 levels right now and it’s not even about the offseason. Ok it’s partially that but also all the off the field stuff. Thinking about the Cubs these days gives me a bad taste in my mouth.
  6. Did this rumor need it’s own thread? No Have I been drinking and have a desire to inflame the masses? Yes Remember when we mocked all those Brewers fans who said sterns was a genius and Theo spent all his capital already?
  7. we are soooo broke
  8. Trout to Cubs bandwgn ends before it starts
  9. Could have ended the night 1 game behind the Suns for second worst record in the league and 0.5 behind Cleveland for 3rd worst. Instead it’s 3 GB the suns and 1 behind Cleveland. I know the difference in odds is not much between 3rd and 4th and there is no difference between 2nd and 3rd but it still matters because it determines how far you can fall if you don’t get lucky. At the 2nd spot you can’t fall below 6th, at the 4th spot you can fall to 8th. Not sure how much it matters in a draft where there isn’t much separation between the 5th pick and the 15th pick (supposedly) but it’s certainly always good to have the highest pick possible.
  10. I know he shanked that punt in the playoff game and certainly isn’t the best punter in the league but I think you could do worse at punter so it’s fine
  11. For those that dont subscribe can you describe why? Guessing maybe they undervalue the impact of defensive lineman and maybe peg a certain amount of production to the draft picks the Raiders will use and that will be more value than Mack? Even if thats true 1) You still have to make the picks 2) The Bears 1st round pick the next 2 years wouldnt have helped them win the division for the Bears. So even if you believe the Raiders "won" the trade, at the very least the Bears did too.
  12. Polls are meaningless, they are 4-10 in Q1, they won at Cincinnati and Creighton (another bubble team), the last 10 doesn't mean anything, and the B1G is good enough that everyone had 12+ Q1 games. Only one bad loss (Illinois). They also get some consideration that their late season slide came with their best player suspended
  13. Tough question. They each have strengths but really glaring warts too. I’d go Belmont, IU, Texas all pretty close in that order and then Lipscomb who I believe got swept by Belmont. In reality I like Texas’ profile maybe more than IUs but I’m old fashioned and have to dock points for having a .500 record for the season.
  14. I’ve been eagerly awaiting bukie’s bracket
  15. Why the hell would he want to leave Kansas to come here? Why does GarPax like Big 12 coaches so much?
  16. Dayton or Davidson most likely teams to take advantage
  17. I could see a scenario where things fall apart, the teams bullpen depth is exposed and the Cubs still 'dont have money' to fill holes at the deadline. But I guess you can make various doomsday scenarios with pretty much every team. I say yes, at least 85 wins.
  18. As much as I hate to admit it, Michigan lost to Penn State
  19. I mean, they were well into the at-large discussion anyway, but that discussion is over. The discussion yeah but they were out of virtually every bracket on BracketMatrix. That said it’s hard to tell exactly how the committee will select teams based on the NET rankings and SMC I believe was in the low 30s there.
  20. Down go the Zags and St. Mary’s has stolen a bid
  21. Not only is he not God awful, he has the 2nd best kickoff return average in the history of the NFL. 30.0, second to only Gale Sayers. He had 70 offensive touches/targets last year. The combination of Kevin White, Bellamy, Mizzell, Cunningham, Hicks, Michael Burton and Bradley Sowell combined for 70. My friend who is a Pats fan said we way overpaid but f that I’m down with the move
  22. Can’t wait until Carl balks in a run to blow the save in our first game. That is if Duensing or the guy we just lowballed because he had mono don’t blow it in the 8th.
  23. Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems like the Bears return game as been god awful for the last few years. As we’ve seen in person last year, Patterson is not god awful as a returner. Obviously Nagy will use him as a great weapon on offense too. Very excited about this move
  24. I'm sure those reports are accurate. This was him mid-season when there was still a possibility of him returning that year.
