  1. Hold off on the Chatwood extension discussions lol
  2. Considering the state of Chicago sports when the world stopped in March, I’m pretty damn excited about a 10-2 baseball team and a hockey team that’s a 1 away from winning a playoff series. Keep it going!
  3. Ugh offense has cooled off the last few games. Crazy that we’ve scored 9 runs this series so far and in a position to win all 3.
  4. Frustrating play there. At least Kb read it well, Javy can get a pass for 1 temporary moment of loss of awareness. Kap isn’t giving out any passes: Lol
  5. It's kind of hard to determine whether someone will opt in or out at this point isn't it? Mookie Betts' contract certainly suggests we could see contract offers at least somewhat in a normal range, but obviously he is a young elite talent while JD Martinez would be heading into FA at 33 during a pandemic that may or may not be worse in November. All this to say, who knows if PTR would allow this if there was even a chance he would opt in. We do lose Lester (most likely), Quintana and Chatwood from the books but obviously that's 3 SPs so I'd expect any offseason focus to be on adding pitchers. Yeah I don’t have faith they’d take on the money/risk he opts in and I think they’re gonna clearly go under the LT next year. So doubt it, but he’d be a great addition to this lineup. Hopefully Mills remains looking like an option for next year. They should have ~$25 mil to spend and stay under the LT to fill SP spots and any other holes/do extensions. Do they need to stay under the luxury tax next year to avoid bad penalties? I'd hate to think that the last year with all of Javy, Rizzo, Bryant and Schwarber would be a 'stay under the luxury tax' season, but then again who knows if all 4 will be here Opening Day 2021. Maybe if they get JD Martinez and he opts in they find a home for Schwarber or something.

  7. Fangraphs has the Cubs current playoff odds at 94.2%, 2nd best in the NL behind the Dodgers (98.1%). Only other team with more than 80% odds is the Braves (90.7%)
  8. I tend to agree, however maybe playing a very limited NC schedule breathes some life into the non-NY6/playoff bowl games. I find all bowl games outside of those games boring and pointless (though I see how GO5 schools may like them).

  10. And 6 game winning streak since I posted this. Good for them.
  11. With the Brewers losing, we’ve managed to build a 4 game division lead within the first 11 games of the season. Not bad.
  12. And haters will start picking it apart, but the pen should get better...it has to. It would be one thing if we were pulling wins out of our ass and had multiple areas we need to improve but we are building big leads and holding on many nights.
  13. Can’t believe that Ross was probably going to let him go in when the lead was only 2.
  14. At least Ross had the quick trigger. If you want to rebuild his confidence great, wait until the Cubs are down 5+ runs or something
  15. Ross has decided to experiment with our season by bringing Kimbrel in. So many things could go wrong here...
  16. Damn, could have made the last 2 innings less stressful by scoring with the bases loaded, 1 out and the 2-3 hitters up
  17. I’d like the offense to go back to scoring 6-8 runs a game starting next inning please Edit: Nevermind for some reason I thought it was the 6th inning already. 2 runs in 3 innings is on pace
  18. I will be thrilled if the team also goes 17-4 in their next 21 games like 2016.
  19. Well still in this one after 2 despite a McDavid hat trick and the Hawks failing to convert on 7 minutes of PP time in the 2nd period.
  20. At this point, they could play slightly sub .500 ball the rest of the year and still be a fairly safe bet for the playoffs
