  1. Sounds like Nico injured himself in his rehab game in SB. Left the game mid-AB
  2. Cubs are 3-15 this month. If they lose out they will be 3-23 which is I believe the 6th worst month in baseball history 1988 Orioles 1-22 (April) 1916 A's 2-28 (July) 1982 Twins 3-26 (May) 1943 A's 3-26 (August) 2012 Astros 3-24 (July)
  3. Honest question, what is the potential negative repercussions of starting fields before he’s ready. Development of bad habits? Loss of confidence? I feel like on the job training would be more valuable than having him watch and learn from umm Andy Dalton. If he’s the best QB or at least has the highest ceiling I’m struggling to understand how we can “break him” by playing him too soon. But maybe I’m missing some obvious reasons why playing him too soon would be bad
  4. lmao, someone tell Matheny that the umpires control rain delays once the game starts.
  5. And there it is, franchise record tying 12th straight home loss. The Cubs last home win was that Javy Baez walkoff/staredown of Amir Garrett. They then lost the last 3 games of the series, traded all their good players away, and have lost 9 more with the scrubs. Actually have to admire the tank job. When the Bulls were tanking they drove me nuts winning meaningless games against other tanking teams, ultimately hurting their draft position. The Cubs are 2-9 since the deadline against the 10 worst teams by winning %. (1-2 vs. COL, 0-2 vs. KC, 1-2 vs. WAS, 0-3 vs. MIA)
  6. A lot of good points here. I am willing to be proven wrong but I just can't see a way that Nagy leads the Bears to a competent offense. Even if Fields eventually gets in there and plays well, I think his playcalling and game planning will always hold the offense back from being good, unless seeing him play well finally gives him the confidence to stop being a conservative turd. I think he's just not the guy, though if he was willing to hand the playcalling reigns over to someone more competent he could be the coach that oversees everything and fosters a good locker room which he seems to do well. That's the only way Nagy works as a head coach IMO, but he seems to have too big of an ego to permanently allow someone else to call plays. You saw how reluctant he was to do it last year, and when the offense had a couple decent games in a row he quickly took control back and the offense faltered again (though admittedly it may be because they played the Packers and Saints)
  7. True but I just looked up his game log and he's had a pretty solid stretch of starts outside of that game. Meaning it's not completely shocking to see him no hit a team full of minor league hitters.
  8. Thank Schwindel for a 1st inning walk to prevent the perfect game bid
  9. The Bears return coverage has been unbelievably terrible this preseason so far. Almost every kick ends up with a good return for the opponent
  10. There’s also this: Though it probably says more about how useless QB rating is than anything
  11. Not sure. I didn’t see anything particularly impressive from Mitch that makes me think that Nagy and the Bears were the only thing holding him back from dominance. He still had questionable throws. The defense gave him easy throws and he took them. But the media is already blowing this up but whatever.
  12. Hilarious how hard the announcers have tried to talk Dalton up
  13. Meh. Correct me if others see different but mitch is making the throws he made in Chicago. When he’s had to go beyond his first 2 options he’s made bad throws. The defense is a little concern I guess particularly the secondary but im still trying to keep it in perspective I guess it is a concern that the bears have gone down a combined 33-0 during the time when 1st and top 2nd teamers are in there
  14. Really? I’ve heard people saying he’s looked great for big chunks of camp. This last week was not great though.
  15. No idea how credible this guy is or who his sources are but…
  16. Longest home losing streak in Cubs history was 12 games back in 1994. This loss would put us in a tie for 2nd at 11 games. Historic!
  17. lol are the Cubs up 3-1 or 2-1? I'm so confused
  18. I would be shocked if JD is back next year. Marquee is such a disaster
  19. If anyone is interested in the Ricketts slobfest
  20. The only people inducted this first year are Cubs HOFers, those honored with the previous Cubs HOF in the 80s and those honored in the Cubs walk of fame in the 90s. They will do inductions every year for players not on that list
  21. Not sure how helpful this is but someone put together the 4 midseason lists and put them into one spreadsheet so you can compare where everyone is ranked: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1L0luFDqxf4ZTqFpYmH-UJfz4yzUYBvczOXLDG6R6tVw/edit#gid=1021230062
  22. Finally someone's City Connect uniforms are worse than the Cubs:
