  1. Guessing they're hoping (if needed) they can bring Pepi on for 20-30 minutes. It's not a bad sub to have in your back pocket at all.
  2. There's a lot to pick apart with this "analysis" but at least thought it was interested to look at recent similar situations. PS you'll need to click on the tweet to see the full picture which shows their best offensive season after the hire. Flores was the only one that was able to significantly improve on that side of the ball.
  3. Some of the names here are: Mike McDaniel- I believe had a 2nd interview w/ the Jags. May not take an OC job with already getting a ton of interest w/o calling plays Luke Getsy- with Hackett getting the job in Denver, Getsy is likely either going with him or becoming OC in Green Bay I would assume Rich Scangarello- 49ers QB coach, fired by Fangio after 1 year as OC in Denver in 2019 Bobby Slowick- been an offensive and defensive asst in SF for several years now, interesting but obviously 0 play calling Kevin O'Connell- big fan of his coaching future, OC in LA, doesn't call plays Wes Phillips- pass game coordinator/TE coach, son of Wade, again 0 play calling experience If I'm reading correctly, none of these guys have called plays except for a guy that's very likely not coming here? Is experience calling plays overrated?
  4. that is good info thanks. And I don't really care about what Colts fans think. If you look at Bills boards this week they all cant wait to move on from Daboll and Frazier and some even question McDermott. Fans almost always think that there's a better coordinator around the corner and don't realize how good they have it with the current guys.
  5. But I think you are basing your opinion too much on one failed hire. Look at 3 examples that worked out well in this weekend's conference championship games. That said I definitely don't think the Bears HAD to make an offensive hire for it to work out...I just would have preferred knowing that we had a coach that has developed great QBs in the past. And no Matt Nagy developing Mahomes doesn't count Marc Trestman was also an offensive minded coach that didn't exactly work out well. It's far more important to get an offensive coach that can run a quality offense and whom the HC allows to run that quality offense. And Marc Trestman was out of the league for a decade before Emery picked him off of the scrap heap. And inherited an established QB, not one that has a ton of promise but needs developing. Again, I don't think the Bears hiring a defensive HC means the offense will suck or Fields cant be developed (for example McDermott/Daboll worked out quite well for Allen), I just would have preferred bringing in an offensive guy with a track record of developing QBs as its the thing that Bears need the most right now. But its very possible they find that guy as an OC

  7. At this point, if Caldwell doesn't settle for the job, I'd say just go with another hot young candidate. Getting Caldwell at OC would be great. I'd no longer be underwhelmed. Probably not overwhelmed either, but very sufficiently whelmed. I wonder how realistic it is? Same here. I think its possible. Caldwell currently isn't coaching anywhere and I don't believe he's a candidate anywhere else. He could be thinking that if he's not a HC he'll just retire, but I believe he was lined up as an OC somewhere before this year before backing down due to health issues. The Bears did seem impressed with his offensive plan, so they might be able to work something out.
  8. It's the biggest hire to make. In a best case scenario we are looking for another OC next offseason because anyone who can make the Bears offense look good is going to get heavy HC consideration next year lol
  9. She's a tupperware employee in ohio, I think it's fair to say she's not that connected to THE FAMILY. I got excited because that would have been peak Bears for it to be true
  10. I was excited about Nagy because he came from the offensive side of the ball and wanted the Bears to have a good offense for the first time in my life. We just hired the wrong guy. I still desperately wanted an offensive guy because I want a good offense fo rthe first time in my life. Doesn't mean we can't have one with this hire, but it would have had been exciting to have our own McVey/Shanahan/Taylor to look forward to instead of an OC who in a best case scenario will only be here 1 season. (best case because if you hire someone who can make the bears offense good for the first time since the T formation, you deserve multiple HC offers)
  11. LMAO is this true?? https://twitter.com/SouvenirCity/status/1486733861836972032 So we had Pollian and the Bears do a coaching search and we ended up with a Colts coach that is related through marriage to the McCaskeys Edit: nevermind, I guess he's is a married to A McCaskey not THE McCaskeys
  12. underwhelmed is a good way to put it. But I know the least about this dude than any of the candidates. I just know he's not an offensive guy, so the most important hire is still to come. I'm just not excited and have to rely on whether the Bears know what they're doing to develop Fields.
  13. Probably an “no IM breaking up with YOU” situation but on the slight chance he did pull out of jobs to stay with Dallas, thats very interesting
  14. He’d better not suck and better bring in someone great to develop fields
  15. Blew 27 of a 28 point lead on Monday, blew all 19 of a 19 point lead today. Won both games. The last sentence is ultimately most important
  16. He could be targeting those guys for any job but Dorsey is a Miami guy so that would track with the Dolphins rumors
  17. We don’t have to clinch this window (obviously) but I think reasonable goals are: 1. Clinch top 4 (think we should do this barring disaster) 2. Get to a point where you can reasonably draw a path to the top 3 while only needing 2 points in the final window, meaning not a bunch of unlikely results need to happen (if that makes sense). That will probably require 7 points and some good results from other matches
  18. https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-states-usa/story/4578663/how-usmnt-can-qualify-for-world-cup-finals-over-the-next-week The US can clinch a WC spot this window if: 1. They win all 3 matches AND 2. Mexico loses all 3 matches AND 3. Costa Rica does not win both of their non-Mexico matches AND 4. Jamaica loses or ties its other 2 non-Mexico matches OR 1. They win all 3 matches AND 2. Panama loses all 3 matches AND 3. Costa Rica does not win or tie both of their non-Panama matches AND 4. Jamaica loses or ties one of their other 2 matches OR 1. They win all 3 matches AND 2. Panama loses all 3 matches AND 3. Costa Rica wins only 1 other match in the window AND 4. Canada picks up 1 point or less this window So you're saying there's a chance? :D
  19. I really don't think there's much reason to be doubtful of DBB having a source. Quality of source, and certainly bias of source, flame away. But between the Pace call, naming the exact day and candidates of certain candidates, and being the only one to say that George would announce a restructuring at the PC, means he has a real source. Some have speculated its close to Ted, which sounds like a reasonable assumption. But if it's not Ted himself then there's gonna be an opportunity to have bad, biased, or incomplete info from time to time. Still for rumor-mill blogging and not traditional, well vetted, journalism standards, it seems pretty good. Oh I agree he's connected. I'm just saying that even if he's connected he seems to now be breaking inside info several times a day. He might have a loose lipped connection at Halas Hall, but given the volume of stuff he's putting out there I wouldn't be shocked if some of the stuff he says is questionable in its truth, but very low risk to say. The GM the Bears hire is almost certainly going to be high on Fields...its a pretty safe thing to say.
  20. Description of how the DJJ injury occurred. We cant even dribble or catch a basketball without getting hurt
  21. I didn't even want Quinn but yet I'm angry that the Giants might take him away from us.
  22. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-bears/ryan-poles-is-said-to-be-mad-about-justin-fields/ Basically DBB was on a podcast yesterday and said that one thing Poles made clear while interviewing is that he is very very high on Fields. Grain of salt because while he's proven to have connections, saying "Poles is high on fields" is a pretty low risk thing to make up if he wanted to sound connected
