My stance on the extra innings runner has already been stated multiple times, but I will say it is really strange to suddenly play under different rules during the postseason. If the extra innings runner is how baseball is going to be played now, then it should probably apply in the postseason too. But I will hate it until the day I die. I still hope that MLB will eventually go back to the old rules for regular season games too, but that hope is fading. The point of the rule is to speed things up and decrease strain on teams pitching staffs during a grueling season. This is very similar to why NHL does the same thing with 3-on-3 OT followed by a shootout and then normal 5-on-5 sudden depth in the playoffs. The variance is probably evened out over a 162 game season but in the playoffs you can afford to allow teams to play “normal” baseball games. I’m 100% against the Manfred man. I can’t stand it. I’ll never accept it. But I don’t see the point of keeping it going in the playoffs. But that’s just me
