  1. I agree. And that’s fine I guess. The more we see Jed in action the more we see where he is different. The Athletic article I posted had a line about how Theo was more of a gunslinger. Jed is more analytical and careful. Jed removes emotion from the equation. He’ll extend someone like Nico who is young and has productive years ahead of him but won’t touch a 30 year old catcher who was one of the heart and souls of this team for the last several years. He’s not going to go out throw $300 million over 10 years for Judge just because he needs a big bat. On the surface I get where he’s coming from but I also wish we could occasionally take a big swing being the large market club that we are
  2. Here's another play breakdown, showing a play where the line was hilariously inept forcing Fields to scramble for a 1st on 4th down.
  3. Also here's Trent Dilfer's appearance today on The Score:
  4. Here's another one. Oh man this is beautiful watching Fields go through his progressions and finding the open guy. Amazing what the man can do with just a little bit of protection.
  5. Smoke....fire? https://twitter.com/jaylonlockson/status/1579542342419484672?s=46&t=Zwog8y5Q7Yd2mq-8fsWvLQ Clearly made up. His other tweets are laughing at others for falling for it lol
  6. JT O'Sullivan did a breakdown on Fields performance yesterday but its behind a paywall now: Sucks because I loved watching these, but its good enough content that he deserves to make money from it. He did tweet this out though:
  7. luckily, they have so much cap space they could make the dollar amount a moot point by restructuring him. or maybe they cant I really dont know but lets pretend they can and trade for Moore anyway Yea, I'm far from worried about any cap mechanics. Its just losing the high value picks (all over again). Which is why its fine to speculate but seems extremely unlikely that the FO will even consider it. There was a report a couple weeks ago that the Bears would be looking at WRs on the trading block, but I think that was/is more looking for decent veteran guys that can be had at a low draft pick cost. I'm kind of in the middle between "give Justin Fields some real help" and "I respect the FO's plan to build through the draft as long as they are hitting on their picks"
  8. yeah that's kinda my read on this situation he has openly admitted that he feels like he has to defer when he's in the lineup with the #1 unit. I think being given a role off the bench could be great for him. He doesn't have to go out there trying to be the 4th pick of the draft, just find a way for him to contribute real value for the team and grow his confidence. As a starter he looks like he doesn't know what he needs to be for the team right now and I think that's hindered his growth (well that and injuries)
  9. Kind of sucks that this is their only home game between September 26 and November 5, and its on a short week. While the schedule coming into the season looked easier the structure of it is not.
  10. Anyone watch Jed's presser? Do you feel better worse or the same about the Cubs competing in 2023? Here are Brett's notes from the PC: https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2022/10/10/live-jed-hoyers-2022-end-of-season-cubs-press-conference/
  11. After watching the highlights, it seems like he got good pass protection in the 2nd half. But the plays he was pressured he knew where his checkdowns were and hit them immediately. This seems like a super positive sign that the game is slowing down for him and he’s not panicking every time he feels pressure. He might have scrambled a few times when he may have found passes downfield but the Vikings were struggling to contain him so that’s absolutely the right move. Very encouraging, hopefully we can see it again on a short week.
  12. I just turned this on and I’m confused about what’s happening? He has something on his ear, umps checked and didn’t find anything illegal? But his spin rate is through the roof tonight more than any other start this year? Supposed he could just be full of adrenaline. Naturally Mets fans are latching onto this to deal with their team’s failure Edit: it’s possible his spin rate is just higher than his season average not “through the roof”. I got that from a Mets forum
  13. Makes me laugh that last year we sent them PCA, then they chickened out and wouldn’t pony up for Contreras, then the Cubs swept them causing them to play in the WC round with 101 wins and now they’re going to lose
  14. Completely forgot who he was but now I remember he was on the Vikings last year.
  15. After the Texans win I said I felt as bad as I could after a win. This week I’m feeling positive after a loss. That said, I missed most of the second half. Did fields really look as good as his stats say? QB rating is flawed but he had a 118.8 rating which I believe is his first 100 rating game.
  16. They have 2 TO plus the 2 min warning. Think there’s still value in trying to hold for a FG There's like, a 5% chance you stop them It’s worth it IMO. They had plenty of time and the chances are much higher that the Bears score a FG with 1:30 left and 0 TO than a TD with 2:30 left and 2 TO
  17. Oh well Fields looked great in the 2nd half and the defense only allowed 1 score. We fought and could have won. Baby steps
  18. Who the horsefeathers is that and why is he playing at this point of the game?
  19. Might fields get to 200 yards passing for the first time this year?
  20. They have 2 TO plus the 2 min warning. Think there’s still value in trying to hold for a FG
  21. I turned it off at halftime to go to a fall festival with my kids. What the horsefeathers they’re winning??
  22. 17 passes to 17 wide open WRs lol
