  1. Yeah OSU is much better positioned. Basically there’s 5 “teams” for 1 spot: Clemson/UNC winner USC Michigan/OSU loser Tennessee LSU I guess I would think Tennessee is going to be the pick in that scenario. The key for a team like Mich/OSU is TCU losing a game. In that case Tennessee moves to a lock (assuming they win their next 2 games which are South Carolina and Vandy. Let’s also assume Georgia beats LSU. Now 4 teams for 1 spot: Mich/OSU Clemson/UNC USC TCU I’m not sure the committee wants to take 2 non-conference champions who didn’t make their championship game and I don’t think they want the CFP to be 2 SEC and 2 Big Ten teams so it’s going to be difficult for a 2nd Big Ten team. The SEC is the only conference to have multiple teams in the CFP and with the Big Ten being down this year + Michigans NC schedule (if it’s them), I don’t see this being the first year another conference gets 2 teams in
  2. Not great for Harry. And no Jenkins is yikes
  3. We beat everybody but Purdue, but we’ll lose to you by 25 next week and somebody will probably finish with 3 losses. Iowa and Minnesota play next week so one of them will have 4 losses. Iowa has tiebreaker over Purdue, Purdue over Minnesota. Assuming the Michigan loss, if it gets to 4 losses, Illinois has the tiebreaker with every team but Purdue, and would win any multi team tiebreaker except 3 way with Purdue/Minnesota So this scenario seems relatively reasonable and makes a 5 way tie. Assuming Illinois would win that tie due to being 3-1 against the others? Illinois: L @ Mich, W @ NU Purdue: W vs NU, L @ IU Iowa: L @ Minn, W vs Neb Minn: W vs Iowa, L @ Wisc Wisc: W @ Neb, W vs Minn H2H: Ill 3-1 Wisc 2-2 Minn 2-2 Iowa 2-2 Pur 2-2
  4. B1G West is a complete mess wow. Looks like there will be 4 teams tied at 4-3. Hopefully someone works out the tiebreakers because I’m too lazy. Really wanted Illinois in the Big Ten title game
  5. Emoni Bates looks legit. Maybe he was just motivated by Michigan spurning him when he wanted to transfer here but he looked like a star. That said Michigans defense looks even worse than last years. Yikes
  6. LOL, it's pretty hilarious. ESPN and NFL Network are talking about the Bears in a positive light, not just after a primetime embarrassing loss. I've even seen some say the Bears can make a run at a playoff spot in a weak NFC. Obviously, the Bears and Fields himself have a long way to go. I think he'll have to show that he can put up big numbers thru the air before he will be universally regarded as "elite". But it's fun seeing everyone doing victory laps if they believed from the start, and eating crow if they thought like Mike Martz. lol at the playoffs talk. If the Bears can’t win with Fields putting up historically great numbers, I can’t see them making a run against I think one of the hardest remaining schedules in the league. Then you add in the fact that the bears are barely disguising their desire to tank (for example look at the Bears offensive pace when down 2 scores in the 4th quarter against Dallas). Nah I’ll just enjoy Fields balling out, hoping for them to win but not too disappointed if they lose
  7. The media is hilarious with how they drive narratives. 4 weeks ago Fields was a bust and the Bears would probably be looking for QBs in the draft. After 3 games of stellar play now the conversation is how elite Fields is and whether he's a top 10 QB and how he's the best QB in his draft class. I'm not saying I disagree with those narratives, he has been extremely good the last 3 weeks. It's just funny how quickly the narrative changes, I've seen like 20 articles/clips from taking heads this week discussing how elite Fields is. Really exciting time to be a Bears fan right now
  8. Can someone sell me on Dansby Swanson not being an infield Heyward without bringing up his vaccination status?
  9. Played Patterson (2.5 points) over Foreman (21.0 points) and left Drake London (12.3 points) on my bench. Week is off to a great start. WTF is up with Patterson? He only played maybe 30% of the snaps tonight.
  10. so not excited by the 9s . . . I have to admit I have low hopes for this world cup. getting out of the group would be a pleasant surprise. Kind of how I feel too but not sure how much those WC tune ups are distorting my expectations. Just doesn't seem like there are many forwards on the roster who are in good form heading into this tournament. Have to win a match 1-0 and draw one 0-0 to advance lol
  11. Dunno about this team
  12. Pretty mediocre slate of games. TCU-Texas is the big one as it relates to the national championship picture but Alabama-Ole Miss has lost a lot of its luster, though perhaps an Ole Miss will will propel them into the CFP discussion as the number of 1 loss P5 teams are dwindling. Locally I know Illinois-Purdue is a big one for many posters here. I'm looking forward to that one.
  13. Yeah those reports have dampened my enthusiasm a little for this offseason. Not to say that the Cubs cant cobble together a playoff team with shorter term additions, but the Cubs definitely need a big bat at some point. I know Jed is obsessed with his principles around long term deals and is probably petrified that Ricketts is going to screw him over with another hard cap for spending but seems like the Cubs should be able to afford at least 1 long term deal. If it turns into another Heyward, it shouldn't be something that destroys the Cubs chances to contend in the future. I just don't like the idea of having this unbreakable rule that the Cubs cant sign anyone for more than 4 years.
  14. I know some were hoping that somehow Willson would miraculously decide to accept the QO but that is officially not the case.
  15. A bit late but PFF grades from last week. Fields continues to be graded highly but still largely on the weight of his running
  16. That's strange. But we're in the rapid transfer/NIL era so I'm sure they can build another team in a hurry, and I believe they have a top 10 recruiting class coming in next year.
  17. Ok the Ricketts have officially gone too far
  18. Love isn't it. screen shot of their last 11 1st rd picks It's amazing to have Rodgers as a Qb and be that concerned with the defense on draft day Watching the Packers trade up to draft Jordan Love after all the complaining from Rodgers about getting him help at WR was one of the funniest things ever.
  19. Not a bad idea. Fields' schedule is pretty friendly too for the rest of the fantasy regular season. Unfortunately the Bears bye comes the last week of the fantasy regular season which might be rough if you are fighting for a playoff spot the last week. Also his fantasy playoff opponents (Philly, Buffalo) are pretty tough
  20. If you win half the available titles over a decently long time period, you’re a dynasty. Bama won 5 in 9 years or 6 in 12, however you want to split it up. They also lost 2 other title games in those 12 years. So I’d say Bama certainly is a dynasty. Yeah that's fair. I didn't feel like going back and seeing how many titles they won lol.
  21. Sammy had 6 more bWAR in his career than McGriff, so at an absolute minimum if he's on this thing Sammy should be. And 16 and 18 more WAR than Mattingly and Belle respectively. If I had to guess on their logic, they are only considering steroid guys that seem like obvious HOFers and then throwing some other good guys from the era on there. The fact that McGwire is also not on the list validates this. I love Sammy but his case is not great if you are penalizing the years that steroid use was likely. That said, we all know Sammy did steroids but he never officially tested positive or appeared on the Mitchell Report nor has he admitted it. There was a report that he tested positive in the 2003 anonymous testing but there's been a lot of questions about the validity of the leaked reports. So you are going to penalize a guy because you think he did steroids?
  22. Why the horsefeathers isn't Sammy in this group? I'm guessing its because his vote % was way lower than the other guys but that's bullcrap. Don't get me wrong, he was nowhere near as good as Bonds or Clemens and maybe even Palmeiro but I feel like his candidacy deserves discussion if the worlds biggest horsefeathers Albert Belle and Mattingly are on there. Or maybe I'm just a Sammy homer
