he doesn't make THAT big of a difference. the beginning of last season was mostly a mirage where we kept winning with demar magic at the end. we'd still suck with lonzo, i think. right, we were unsustainably good in the clutch, and that has done an almost literal 180. We also played the easiest schedule in the league in the first half and the most home games in the league in the first half. Adding to that - the Bulls had almost a completely new team. Only LaVine and Coby White were on the roster at the start of the previous season. We caught teams off guard early on but once there started to be a book written on the Bulls they became easier to solve. All that said, I do still think Lonzo has a larger impact on the Bulls than he would on most teams due to the absence of high volume 3 point shooters on the team outside of LaVine, and the fact that the Bulls don't really have enough starter quality distributor/PG on the team. Then you add in the fact that he's one of the best on-ball defenders in the league and you realize that he solves a number of the biggest issues with the current team. Are they the best team in the East with Lonzo? Hell no. Are they safely in that 7-10 seed range with him? Probably. Either way, signing an off injured player like Lonzo and putting almost no depth behind him is quite the decision.
