  1. Don't plan on buying any Cardinals fans message boards in the future. Nah its fine, buy GatewayRedbirds as long as you agree to destroy them if we do extra good at bringing in ad revenue. They created their forum and modeled it after ours, so I feel the need to be part of their destruction as well.
  2. Tim gave me the run down on that name and it's definitely staying for obvious reasons. Also on the topic of Game Threads, as this is the first forum you've managed with a team who has won a World Series since the advent of the internet, leaving the Game 7 thread as a sticky is absolutely necessary.
  3. This never made sense to me; like, why not just create the poll in the appropriate forum? I always thought it was there because the board was at one point obsessed with creating large tournaments for best bands, best posters and hottest chicks (Vance [-( ) and it was bogging down the social forum.
  4. Aw crap, he found it Insider's has no real purpose anymore, it can be dumped. Disagree, every forum needs a cool kids club (as long as I'm in it)
  5. did not expect him to answer in such a revelatory way
  6. Are you saying we’re all gonna start dying off soon?
  7. So... Was she into Kyle and he should have shot his shot? Seriously can we stop talking about imb Dude doesn’t even know how to spell IBM, i don’t trust his judgement here
  8. If they remove the horsefeathers horsefeathers filter we horsefeathers riot. I would personally be insulted on behalf of Fred if they removed the horsefeathers filter.
  9. Petiton to change title to “Guess what a Twins forum admin with a desire to expand his reach did THIS time”
  10. *bans self* I already saw based on the comments that NSB was going to lose so I voted for it to make the poll results visible. Brock, meet Modzilla. Modzilla, meet Brock
  11. As a counterpoint, I'll bring up that this site's traffic has been consistently declining for a few years. Long-term posters inevitably leave and if they're not being replaced (which they haven't been for a few years now), a forum can become a ghost town. People WANT high quality commentary. It has been our calling card for years on Twins Daily and was the case for 20 years on Brewer Fan. The same has carried over to Brewer Fanatic, we're just giving good smart posters an option they may not have known about before. If you're irritated by the likes of Twitter and Facebook commentary, other people are, too... we try to be a place that attracts those people and bring them into the fold. We also don't hesitate to give Twitter bros the boot because we don't want to hear their thoughts any more than you do. I agree that the site has been declining in traffic, its basically become a group of people who know each other as well as anonymous internet people can know each other. I know IMB's an ass and I love him for it. I know David occasionally goes silent as he needs downtime to upgrade his RAM every so often. I know Mojo's an ass and I love him for it. I know why the game thread forum is named after Fred Hornkol. I know that goony's an ass and I love him for it. I know derwood is good for a dumb comment every so often because he doesn't read before he posts, but know I can give him horsefeathers and he'll take it in good spirits because he's a good dude at heart. I know that I don't have to look at minor league box scores because every morning Raisin will neatly summarize everything that happened the night before. I'm not against what you are doing at all, but some of that close knit core poster/inside joke stuff that makes this essentially my internet home page is what I worry we may lose if the board grows too much. I don't even know how much I care about discussing the Cubs anymore, I just like chatting with the same people I've chatted with for 20 years. But I am looking forward to seeing some improvements to the site, and hopefully not having to panic every time the site briefly goes down wondering if this is it for the forum. I'm open to seeing where this takes us. Good luck!
  12. I welcome you here as long as you promise to settle any disputes by siding with the person with more overall posts.
  13. It's better than being named Borck. Every time I look for personalized trinkets with my name on them they are always sold out or on back order.
  14. Every board has its running jokes, please explain this one to the new guy. The greatest poster (Da Bum) who ever graced these boards and was unjustly perma-banned by Tim and his supporters have never ended calls to "Free Da Bum" Other common support rallying calls used by his supporters include "Thick Onion Gravy" and "Mother Effin Windermere" I can understand people not being aware of the meaning of Free Da Bum...it happened so long ago that Nancy Pelosi was a Senator!
  15. Interesting. Would have loved to have kept the board under the radar and how it is, but given the amount of time, effort and money you've put into this site over the last 20 years, you deserve to make that decision. And it looks like you've sold it to a solid group that will put some effort into the site. Congrats to you and thanks for everything you'd done leading the board! I'm not kidding when I say that I would feel adrift if something happened to the board as its become my goto "surf out of habit" website. New board overloards: Your first command is to Free Da Bum
  16. Purdue reminds me of 2012-2013 Michigan. They brought back some returning players like Burke and Hardaway and had a great incoming freshman class. Ranked 5th going into the season, they started 20-1 and at one point were ranked number 1. Their defense then fell apart and they went 6-7 the rest of the season including getting knocked out early in the Big Ten tournament. They even lost to a Penn State team that went 2-16 in the conference. Over the last 2 weeks they dropped from a 1 seed to a 4 seed and their expectations were much lower (I remember everyone picking 5 seed VCU to upset them in the 2nd round), but they found another gear and went all the way to the championship game. Not saying its a perfect comparison by any means and admittedly just drawing parallels without much actual analysis (though I know Purdue's defense has really dropped off lately similar to Michigan's) but just saying don't completely dismiss the early season performance or take too much stock in the late season lag. Expected to be a top team heading into the season, they played like it initially and then slipped before putting it back together. Sounds like Purdue so far.
  17. San Diego has a metro population that is 400k less than Minneapolis and roughly on par with Tampa Bay. This doesn't give small market teams complaining that they can't afford a competitive payroll much credibility. In other news the Padres will owe approximately $122m to 5 players in 2026: 39 year old Yu Darvish, 33 year old Manny Machado, 33 year old Xander Bogaerts, 33 year old Joe Musgrove and 27 year old Fernando Tatis Jr. They are paying Bogaerts until 2033 (age 40), Machado until 2034 (age 41), Tatis until 2034 (age 35) and Darvish until 2028 (age 41). Some fascinating stuff.
  18. Commercial breaks after every out. MLB gets more money and fans get to watch 6 hours of baseball every day!
  19. The first one I saw by the Giants, it seemed like the clock expired for 2-3 seconds and one of the other umpires had to yell loudly to alert the home plate ump. I didn't see the others because my attention span for spring training baseball is 2 innings max but that jumped out at me as awkward.
  20. Why does it feel like Bellinger is Jason Heyward with more swing and miss? I’m sure there are a number of reasons why that silly but when he’s up there and swinging I get a similar vibe
  21. If Houston does this and then picks Stroud (who then flops) it would set the franchise back another five years And the Bears trade 2 to the Colts who pick Young and he turns out to be a HOF QB? Yeah people would finally stop talking about Trubisky/Mahomes as the gold standard of disastrous draft trades for a QB
  22. Without even accounting for the 2024 1st, the difference in value between what the Bears would offer (1 ovr) and what the Texans would offer (2 ovr, 12 ovr, 33 ovr) is the equivalent of the Bears getting an extra 6th overall pick of surplus value. I can’t remember what the value of a next year 1st is but that would make it even crazier. I could believe it a little if there was a consensus no doubt generational QB in this draft but no one is even certain who the number 1 pick will be. Texans would have to be pretty certain they were getting a generational talent to be that desperate to trade up 1 spot I would think
  23. that would be one of the most shocking trades I’ve ever seen, 2 additional 1st round picks and a 2nd to move up 1 spot in the draft when all they had to do was not convert 2 4th and super longs on the final drive of their last meaningless game and convert a 2 point conversion
