Our new ownership is not a fan of megathreads. In the past pretty much all of our discussions were megathreads. It takes some getting used to but its fine. Brock thinks it will elicit more conversation and activity if we make separate threads for things. With regards to selling, it seems like Jed is looking for a reason not to sell. The only way I'd be ok with selling is if there were some elite prospects being offered...it sounds stupid to say this but more 40-45 FV prospects isn't a big needle mover for me and eventually there will be a 40 man reckoning. At some point we'll need to consolidate some of that depth.

I was going to say thats really strange to only play a division opponent once on the road even with the new schedule format but forgot that the Cardinals sacrificed one of their home series for the London trip. I'll take it! -
Another mostly bad day for other results. The Reds did lose, but at the expense of the Brewers. Cubs remain 6 gb in the Central The Diamondbacks also lost, but the Marlins and Phillies won and the Giants are leading late, so assuming the Giants win, the Cubs will gain 0.5 games in the Wild Card and finish the night 4.5 GB Cant believe the Diamondbacks are out of a playoff spot currently. 5-14 this month for them.

Cubs offense has been really solid this month. Since 7/2, they’ve scored at least 3 runs in every game except 1 (where they scored 2 runs) and have scored 5+ runs in 14 of their last 20 games

Who would have thought trading Stroman could actually increase the Cubs chances of making the playoffs this year /s Hes been pretty bad since the London series/blister. Wonder what’s going on with him…contract stuff getting to him maybe? I mean he’s not a 2.28 ERA pitcher or whatever he was before this run but hes pitching like Taillon has most of this season.

Also seeing rumors on twitter that there is another Pac-Whatever team strongly considering a move, a "non-4 corners state" school so basically Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford or Cal. Not sure if they are also targeting Big 12 or another school

Barnhart has been better with the bat of late I guess (.799 OPS in his last 36 PA!) and understand they like his work behind the plate, but hate when he's in the lineup 2 days after an off day for a critical game especially when they have a catcher who is hitting much better than him this season and is seemingly appreciated behind the plate as well.

Alternate way of looking at that is the Cubs can get to 4.5 games out of the WC at a minimum with a win today. DBacks also losing 1-0 but its early. They'd also need the Phillies to lose tonight (I think) to finish the night 4 games out.

FWIW I've read multiple reports that the Sox are close to trading Lynn and have already gotten as far as exchanging names with the Rays. There's certainly a chance he does not end up starting tonight.
