    Funny, I watched some of the CSN rebroadcast while I was playing TOTK last night and earlier in the game Benetti was talking about how the Cubs have everything to play for still this season while the Sox do not.

    Cole Kmet getting paid. I like Cole but interesting choice for first Bears player extended this season.

    The logic here completely makes sense, not disagreeing with that, but I find it funny that the pitcher who is publicly lobbying to stay here and get an extension is the one likely to be traded and the hitter who signed here for 1 year to improve his market value and has Scott Boras as an agent is the one more likely to stay. Again, I get it especially with the QO on the table for Bellinger, but its funny on the surface.

    The Cubs have been on a heater ever since PSD users started showing up. Can't be a coincidence right?

    Diamondbacks and Giants both win close games meaning the Cubs do not gain any ground in the WC tonight but do pull within 6 in the division with the Brewers loss. Unlike last night when every single WC contender playing lost, today every WC contender playing won except the Marlins (Reds, Giants, DBacks, Phillies, Padres sort of)

    Phillies came back in the 9th to beat the Orioles. They will need the Diamondbacks or Giants to lose tonight if they want to gain a game in the WC today I believe (and the Cubs finish off the win of course)

    In NLC/WC related news: Phillies losing 3-2 in the 8th Brewers/Reds are scoreless in 4th Marlins lost to the Rays Giants, Padres and Diamondbacks play later on

    I haven’t paid much attention to the white Sox but one thing I keep hearing about is how great Jake Burger is. I look at he’s hitting .214 with a .770ish OPS. Thats pretty good and he has really nice power but not what I was expecting.

    Complicated legacy. Maybe complicated is the wrong term. Completely overhauled a dying hockey franchise and revitalized the fanbase. But cannot overlook his role in the off the ice issues that marred the Hawks 3 Cups. Ultimately that cover up and his annoyed response about being done talking about it will be his legacy

    They must have been busy birthing that person while the Jags were scoring a TD with :29 left to beat the Bears by 1 point (assuming he was born in 1998 and not 2004 when they lost 22-3)

    I agree with that. Urban had a duty to report DV accusations to his athletic department and didn't, kept him on the staff for years and then rehired him at OSU while more reports of his abuse came in. Harbaugh lied about when he bought recruits burgers because he thought it was stupid that there are dead periods where he cant buy kids who are visiting campus lunch whenever he wanted to. I'm not saying he shouldn't get punished or absolving him of lying, but there are numerous examples of issues around domestic violence being treated less severely than less harmful issues (for example Watson getting 11 games for 30+ credible accusations vs. Ridley getting an entire season for making a $1,500 bet)

    I guess the one benefit (outside of the 1st overall pick and waiver priority) to finishing with the worst overall record the previous season.

    As the resident Michigan fan I'll homer it up and point out that JH is getting suspended 4 games for buying recruits burgers during a dead period and misleading investigators about it. Urban Meyer knowingly employed a domestic abuser for years, swept it under the rug while the abuse continued and was suspended 3 games. JH is absolutely in the wrong and misleading investigators is stupid and disappointing but why in the age of NIL do we care about when a burger was purchased for a recruit? Blah blah blah equal playing field...with all the shady horsefeathers going on with regards to NIL these days (like pushing players to enter the transfer portal by dangling a bag etc) its just funny.

MLB.tv is cheaper for live games, and Marquee has yet to put out enough quality programming to make it worth watching Marquee outside of Cubs games imo. Edit: I realize there is value for Cubs fans in-market that can't access Marquee on their cable outlet or don't have cable and are blacked out from watching on MLB.tv, but $20 a month is insane

    Funny that they talk about the Crew but it makes sense since they only have 2 pro teams in town plus OSU. I can't remember Chicago sports radio ever talking about the Fire other than reporting the scores.

    So basically the WC looks like this as it relates to the Cubs WC1: Reds (Cubs 5.5 GB) WC2/WC3/1st team out: Diamondbacks/Marlins/Giants (Cubs 5.0 GB 2nd team out: Phillies (Cubs 4.5 GB) 3rd team out: Cubs 4th team out: Padres (Cubs 1.0 GA)
