  1. Seems like the Cubs got the best overall bat traded at the deadline, unless I'm missing someone
  2. Are we not counting the reliever? Did he get sent to Iowa? I would have liked the Cubs to have gotten a lefty reliever and maybe another bat but this is the kind of buying I was expecting given where the Cubs are at.
  3. Raley still being discussed but not sure if the Cubs are involved.
  4. I believe he gets put on waivers for 7 days and any team can claim him (and his contract). That won't happen so after 7 days he'll be a FA and the Cubs will be on the hook for his contract. Technically he could play in AAA and not be on the team's 40 man roster which would make absolutely no sense in Mancini's case.
  5. Would you have said before the WC started that the US are still one of the 3 most talented teams if not the most talented team in the tournament? Definitely going through a transition, definitely some legacy roster spots given out that are hurting them, definitely some major injuries hurting their attack, but still cant help but be disappointed with the performance so far.
  6. Give PTR credit, at least he won a World Series before his revealed his true sinister intentions.
  7. Definitely. Imagine how psyched O's fans would be if they walked away from the trade deadline with a 2023 all star starting pitcher and the cost was just some random dude with an ERA over 6 this year (please dont take this seriously)
  8. Levine's tweets are so confusing. I think he's saying the Mets are likely to trade him to the Cubs, but weird way of wording it.
  9. It's really weird going from feeling like every game last week was a must win to this week having a very important series but the games are less must win due to being given a 2 month extension basically. Doesn't mean the games aren't very important in this series, their backs are still up against the wall, but losing games last week meant the season was effectively over. They've bought some wiggle room now. Not a ton, but some.
  10. Gee I wonder what the Mets are going to do today
  11. I've got 8, and boy is that depressing. Rich Hill, Nelson Cruz, Adam Wainwright, Justin Verlander, Miguel Cabrera, Jesse Chavez, Joey Votto and Zach Greinke. Keep on going guys! Especially you Wainwright, you are keeping Ian Happ's career alive.
  12. My buddy was at a bar last night and thinks he saw Peavy singing 'Go Cubs Go'. Or maybe it was just a random dude and they were singing "Don't Stop Believing", one or the other.
  13. I mean he's a 4-5 win player every season. Not in that uber elite class but he's a legitimate star player with among the best power hitting in the game. That said, and this might be what you are getting at, he has name value and the Mets may be expecting you to pay for a 7 win player when trading for him. While he definitely fills a big offensive hole for the Cubs - power , I'm perfectly fine not overpaying for him.
  14. I really don’t think that the Cubs future is much derailed by trading a few mid level prospects and not trading away 2 months of Bellinger and Stroman. Sure there’s a chance we could have added the next Mike Trout or maybe traded away the next Shane McClanahan or whatever but the risk is not high enough to not play this season out imo.
  15. Love these 2 posts. Both well said and how I feel but couldn’t express it as well
  16. Soooo new poll?
  17. Let’s not overreact to 2 losses, one with the offense having an off day that they were overdue for and the next by 1 run to the first place team. it’s not ideal but not ready to regret any decisions based on 2 games. They have played 106 games and won half of them but have a RD that suggests they have played like a team 10 games over.
  18. Is this right? The cubs are 25-40 against teams above .500 and 28-13 against teams under .500? I knew the cubs struggled against good teams but I didn’t think it was that bad
  19. This game pisses me off so much. Extremely winnable and they likely win if Morel hits it 2 feet harder or their highest paid pitcher doesn’t get lit up for the 7th straight start. but mostly it feels good to care enough to get angry again
  20. Every Seiya at bat either makes him look terrible or he hits a rocket right at a fielder.
  21. Of course Nico strikes out swinging at a pitch in the same area as the terrible strike call
  22. This ump has had some terrible misses tonight
  23. Great job of pitching by everyone except Stroman
