They really should just merge with the Mountain West. I don’t know how that looks for other sports though or academics. Stanford is like the most successful college athletic program ever. I know football brings in like 90% of all athletic revenue and men’s basketball another 9.5% and they aren’t historically great there and that’s all that matters, but they are typically good at most other sports.

What makes their intensity level high today? My point is that its baseball and the better team doesn't always play better over a 3 game series. Any individual 3 game segment of the season is a weighted crapshoot. The Cubs are red hot and playing at home, you shouldn't expect them to get their ass kicked, though clearly it was a potential outcome

I think one of the things I hate most about the Braves is that they were like 'oh Freddie Freeman is getting older lets just replace him with Matt Olson' and now Olson is on pace for like 57 HRs this year.

It's baseball though, the White Sox took 2 of 3 from Atlanta. The Cubs came in hot and at home....I didn't expect a humbling. I think the biggest factor is that the Braves sat in their Chicago hotel rooms and watched the Cubs play until 10pm last night.

The somehow is the part that needs to be figured out. I have no idea how pretty much all of their players signed long term mostly under market extensions to play in some generic ballpark in a suburb of Atlanta for the majority of their careers.

Florida State is all but begging a conference to come save them. Basically we're going to have 3 power conferences that all have divisions that are subconferences, and its going to be ridiculous. I'm not at all a CFB traditionalist but this all seems rather ridiculous.

So caught up in the Cubs game I didnt even see this news. That's fantastic. He's only 28 too so its not like we're hoping he avoids a sharp decline.

I'm not going to sweat this weekend as long as we take 1 game. I think we can win the series though. But these games are less important than the last 4 were, which were less important than the previous 10 were. There's 53 games left this year and we only have to make up 2-3 games of ground as it stands. Edit: Feel free to find this post when I'm complaining about the Braves being up 5-0 early tomorrow.
