  1. Really annoying that we let this guy pitch 6 innings. He’s only had 4 starts before this and was a bullpen guy. We could have gotten to their ****** ass bullpen a lot sooner but here he is mowing out our slumping offense with ease
  2. It’s tough with a runner on 1st and 0 outs. He definitely shouldn’t be challenging him early in the count but also don’t want to walk the tying run into scoring position and 0 out. Doesn’t matter though he grooved one right over the plate, that definitely shouldn’t have happened
  3. Of course Wisdom botches a play immediately before the HR
  4. Almost everyone in the Royals pen has an ERA over 5 for the season
  5. I'm sad Bellinger isn't hitting .500 anymore
  6. Candelario with a big RBI last inning, flashing the leather multiple times this inning.
  7. Why in the hell would Nico run to 3rd when Morel is trapped between 3rd and home? Probably weren’t getting out of it anyways, but you are 100% not getting out of it if two players are standing on 3rd. Were they trying to force the royals to make a mistake and throw to 3rd to get Nico out allowing Morel to score before he was tagged? I don’t get it
  8. Royals offense is averaging almost 7 runs a game in the past week. Not a great time to have a slumping offense so let’s get it together
  9. this offense is so obnoxious when they're slumping
  10. Lefthanded Royals hitters are 3-4 against Taillon. Righthanded Royals hitters are 0-6 against him
  11. Offense stop being offensive and get some runs
  12. Feel like it’s virtually guaranteed that he hits at least 2 HRs this weekend
  13. Looks like he was a multi-inning reliever until recently joining the rotation. Has a 2.38 ERA since moving to starter shutting down the Rays, Mets and Red Sox before getting hit a bit by the Cardinals in his last start. The matchup kind of concerns me with Taillon going up against a lineup with plenty of lefties. He’s gotten better against them recently but still has allowed a .900 OPS against Lefties for the season
  14. Brewers lose 1-0. Cubs end the day 2 GB. Unfortunately, Diamondbacks win yet again, their 5th win in the last 6 games and are now 1 GB the Cubs, Marlins and Reds for WC3
  15. If he didn't play in week 3 that would mean almost a month between game action with the bye week before the season. I don't think thats necessarily a bad thing though. Like pointed out hes been scrimmaging against the Colts the last few days, he's practicing daily etc. If anything I consider it a good thing. The Bears have seen enough and are confident Fields is ready for the season.
  16. It's kind of a lazy comparison I think. This year Morel is only swinging at 26% of pitches outside the strike zone. For his career Javy swings at 45% of them. Conversely, Javy makes contact with 80% of the pitches he swings at in the strike zone vs just 70% for Morel. Then look at how each has done based on pitch type For his career Javy has been well above average against curveballs and cutters, average against changeups and splitters, and poor against sliders and fastballs Morel has been well above against against fastballs, sliders and cutters, average against splitters and below average against curveballs and changeups. In terms of walk rate, Morel's is about double Javy's. They both have contact issues but Javy's seem to be more about swinging at balls and not being able to hit sliders. Morel has more trouble making contact in the strike zone but has showed the ability to work a count and lay off bad pitches (relatively to Javy). He also crushes fastballs and sliders which are the 2 pitches Javy has the most trouble with.
  17. Quiet night for scoreboard watching and the matchups for the teams we care about aren't great Diamondbacks are having a bit of a resurgence and sit 1.5 games back of the Cubs. They have Zac Gallen going tonight against Rich Hill Dodgers are on fire so they might win regardless of matchup but the Brewers are throwing Corbin Burnes against them tonight with the Dodgers countering with Lance Lynn who apparently has magically gotten a lot better since joining LA. Best case scenario is we went the night 3.5 behind Philly, 1.5 behind SF, percentage points ahead of CIN and MIA, 2 games ahead of Arizona and 2 games behind MIL in the Central Worst case scenario is everything is the same except we're 1 game ahead of Arizona and 3 games behind MIL
  18. He does like to go to teams with droughts and the Yankees have only won 1 WS in the past 22 years and 2 pennant in the last 20 years
  19. Yeah that's tough considering they are already concerned about 40 man crunch. But I'm guessing PCA would be put on the 40 man sometime in the next 12 months anyways, so any 40 man planning they do is with that in mind.
  20. The main difference of course is that Morel is not providing any defensive value and seems unlikely to in the near future since Nico and Dansby have the MI covered for a while. When I checked the other day, Morel was only worth 1.2 fWAR. This doesn't invalidate your comparison of them as hitters of course, but that was the thing with Javy, even when he had stretches where he looked terrible at the plate, he could still provide value defensively. Also one thing I've noticed about Morel is that yes he strikes out a lot, and yes he gets down 0-2 a lot by being aggressive early, but he's much better at turning ABs around than I remember Javy being. Several times over the past couple of weeks I've seen him go down 0-2 and then end up walking or at least getting to 3-2 and putting himself in a good position. He seems less likely to flail at a slider well off the plate when down 2 strikes. Yesterday he quickly went down 0-2, had a decent take on the 0-2 pitch and then got his mistake pitch and took advantage.
