Bruce Levine just announced that David Riske switched the color of his "Sox" today, moving from Boston to Chicago for a minor league pitcher (forgot the name). Sean and Steve are speculating that, based on his history, they brought him in to replace Tracey and basically to hit someone tonight and take a suspension. Obviously they will have more use for him after he gets back, but thats the initial reason for the trade.
The coach wouldn't, but as a player, if you have a perception of an opponent, it can play a powerful role in how focused you are on the field. I think the Italians are showing signs of overlooking us. To be so clueless about an opponent 2 days before a game is a very dangerous thing, and if they solely watch tape of the CZR game, or even the CZR game plus the send off series games, they're going to get a misleading, negative impression of us. Is it really misleading? They've been looking pretty damn awful lately. Sure they have the potential to play better, but will they?
ESPN 1000 announced the Cubs lineup a bit ago. I'm pretty sure it was 4-3, CF Womack, 2B Barrett, C Back from the Dead (Walker), 1B Ramirez, 3B Jones, RF Bynum, LF Cedeno, SS Only thing keeping me interested in the Cubs, P
Man if I was the coach of an event that only happens every 4 years and carries that much international pride and knowing that their team is in the position to basically assure a second round appearence, I would take no team for granted.
To be honest, a change in ownership would be nice, but a chance in President, General Manager and Manager would be better. But then again as long as MacPhail and MacDonough keep the masses coming to experience Wrigley's charm, the ownership has no reason to get rid of them.
Of course leave Marmol the wonder kid in the rotation. Obviously since he has had one good start coming from AA, we have to keep in the rotation as long as possible. There is no chance that once advanced scouting reports come out that hitters won't hit him. Marshall does not suck, its obvious that he has the stuff and the makeup to be a solid major league starter. But he has thrown just about as many innings as he has in any one season in his career. Once Marmol gets lit up 1-2 times, it will be obvious that neither should remain in the rotation eventually.
It's really to drive us all crazy. It makes me so mad I want to break things. Dude, Neifi had good numbers against Oswalt. You gotta go by the book Dude Oswalt is great against lefties, thats why Jock Jones is playing
I can't wait for this season to be over. I hate everything about the Cubs and if I was a quitter I'd be cheering for anyone but the Cubs right now. I hope you feel pain Dusty you stupid loser.
"George Clooney! You been reading about all that? You been seeing that? He's up there with, um... He's up there with the Congress. He's trying to get everybody to go over there and solve that thing."
How can you guys stand to watch this crap. I usually keep the game on PIP just in case Barrett decides to hit someone again, while I watch something else
Damn, I was really enjoying the Angels being more disapointing of a team then the Cubs were. Misery loves company, but as the Red Sox and White Sox have shown us the last 2 years, the Cubs are the only miserable team.
Time for some Brazilian butt-whipping! I swear the more I get into soccer the more I realize how much of an All Star team Brazil is. If anyone beats them it will be an upset of historic proportions.
