Better start pleding money to the Cubs if you want them to sign some of the people you guys are talking about. I just cant see any way that we spend more then a few million to improve the team this winter. There is no way either the Trib or their new owners are going to allow a ton of money being spent while the ownership is changing hands, even if the new owner was completely OK with it

How about ARod, Jeter, Sheffield, Matsui, Posada? The 04 Red Sox were better than us, but those Yankees were a hell of a lot better than the D-backs. Actually , Buckner WAS harrassed in Boston for quite awhile after the ball went under his glove that year against the Mets. In fact if I'm not mistaken, he and his family moved away from the area due partly to the fact that his family was having to deal with crap from people as well and he didn't want them to have to deal with it. Last interview I recall seeing was a couple years ago and although he sounded like it was all "in the past" and he didn't really think about it much, I also got the feeling he's never forgiven the people of Boston for their treatment of him and his family. I believe he was invited to Boston for the celebration of the 2004 WS as some kind of "all is forgiven" gesture and his response to it was more or less "go F yourselves" and he never did come back for it. The only thing I did hear is that he finally agreed to sign photos of the ball going under his glove and he meets up with Mookie Wilson now and then at different functions to both sign the photo - I think his comment was something along the lines of "It doesn't bother me anymore, and if I can make money off signing them, fine with me." Yeah the reason why its in the past and he doesn't care is because he lives in like Montana these days. Besides, Buckner had much more to do with the Sox losing the World Series than the Cubs losing the NLCS, if only because he was actually a player on the field. While the Sox could have easily lost the WS without Buckner's error, it certainly did not increase their chances or even keep that at status quo.

No, you can't think ahead to game 5. You have to concentrate on one game and one game only. You will figure out to do for game 5 when you get to game 5. Thinking ahead already potentially screwed us once this series.

My girlfriend tries to cheer me up when I'm mad about the Cubs, and it just makes me more upset. I feel really bad for her because she doesn't know what to do when I'm like that.
