  1. Chris Capuano was brought in to face Edmonds, a lefty. The Cardinals score 16 consecutive runs as the curse of Cappy continues. Cardinals win 17-14.
  2. Plus if Peavy goes on Sunday, it would be on 3 days rest. Here is how Peavy did on 3 days rest earlier this month: 4IP 7H 8ER 3BB 4K. Also don't forget to mention that the Padres lost 2 offensive starters Milton Bradley and Mike Cameron this week and that the Brewers are 49-27 at home. Also please mention that the Padres play a night game on the West Coast before flying to Milwaukee for Thursday's game. I fully expect the Brewers to take 3/4. The Cubs will need to go 3-2 the rest of the season to win the division outright.
  3. Magic number is 4 right now. The best it could be is 2
  4. Wasn't it 7 games left? It was 1.5 with 9 games left. We lost the last 2 to the Mets, 3/4 to the Reds and the first 2 to the Braves. We also had a 1 game lead with as little as 6 games left. The reason it was such a huge collapse is because we were playing bad teams like the Mets and Reds (at home) and the Braves, who already had a playoff spot locked up. We assumed that the Cubs would just steamroll those guys with our clearly talented team. One thing that certainly sucked is that the Braves had it out for us for beating them in the NLDS last year and took pleasure in knocking us out. What we also didn't count on is the Astros, who were 2.5 games behind us with 9 to play would win out and make the playoffs. That is why this current situation worries me. Anyways, yesterday was 03 talk, today 04. Gonna stop before the bad vibes move in.
  5. I had a terrible feeling yesterday morning about the Cubs, and now I have a great feeling this morning. Good sign.
  6. Truthfully, Peavy on 3 days rest (he gave up 8ER in 4IP when he did it earlier this month), Young (0-3 7.00 ERA in September, 0-2 5.68 ERA in August), and Maddux (fly ball pitcher) don't really excite me in this series. Don't pin your hopes on those guys.
  7. Villenueva has been pitching his butt off this month. I have a feeling he comes back down to earth tonight. The Cubs of last year fielded worse lineups than the Cardinals and won
  8. Updated if the Brewers end up winning tonight: Cubs record...to tie...to win 0-5...2-3...3-2 1-4...3-2...4-1 2-3...4-1...5-0 3-2...5-0...N/A 4-1...N/A...N/A 5-0...N/A...N/A
  9. You know you'll ask that again in the post season. . If we make it.
  10. Now 3 swings for the fences for Ramirez I'm sure
  11. Weeks is ridiculous hitting in the .230s but his OBP is in the .370's
  12. Great, bases loaded for the pitcher. Solid idea to have the pitcher hit 8th Tony. I hate this game
  13. Only in baseball do I find me self cheering for someone who was addicted to coke 6 weeks ago
  14. Well not the best game of the season for Sori. I will take the optimistic view and say that he is trying to donate money to Project 3000
  15. Yeah but Gimpy Albert is clogging first. I bet you that he is pissed that Skip couldn't score from second on that single to give him his 99th RBI
  16. C'mon Soriano please do something. Please just please do something so we don't blow the division
  17. Wouldnt mind having someone on for Soriano
  18. If Monroe doesn't hit into a double play.... I will be stunned
  19. Maybe the Cubs are waiting until there are 5 outs remaining in the game to break out offensively?
  20. Brewers and Marlins - 8 runs on 13 hits Cubs and Cardinals - 0 runs on 3 hits
