  1. If the Cubs have the 4th best staff in the NL, then the NL really blows. That said I think the Giants should be ahead of the Cubs too. Possibly the Dodgers.
  2. And ARod. Him and Boras have been speaking for months.
  3. Sounds like one of our own: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=46287
  4. Zambrano, Pie, Gallagher, another minor leaguer for Bedard, Buchholz and Roberts? Nah
  5. Well Peter Angelos is currently on Capitol Hill at the MLB Steroids thing, so I don't think any trades would occur today.
  6. You could also pose those same 2 options with the question changed to "Which would be more excruciating?"
  7. Consolidate three crappy pitchers into one terrible one? I don't see a single reason why we'd do this Hoops. Maybe you can elaborate. I hate Marquis as much as the next guy, but I think he will provide more use to the Cubs than Padilla would. Same with Dempster.
  8. http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/3/3f/NewYorkGiants_1000.png http://sandiegobloggers.com/blog-directory/logo/53.gif I know it won't happen but please dear God make it so. If the White Sox, Cardinals and Packers win it all in 3 consecutive years, I might seriously do something bad. Those are the 3 teams I hate more than all others
  9. BRob saga. Day 46. Finality no where near in site. Board members have begun to tear out their hair out of pure insanity. The thought of the Cubs without Brian Roberts on this team causes members to feel sick. However, a new trend is emerging. The thought of the Cubs with Brian Roberts on the team is causing the same reaction. Conclusion needs to occur soon, else I fear the entire board will spontaneously combust. God help us all.
  10. Nope. I would say something like Pie, Colvin, Gallagher, Marshall, Murton, Cedeno for Bedard, Roberts and Payton We would take Payton because we'd need an extra OF with Pie and Murton gone. Ideally Hendry would search for another option to start the third OF spot eventually.
  11. http://hirejimessian.com/index.php/2008/01/14/hjes-first-scoop/ I hope Baltimore burns to the ground... I honestly think with the way that Desipio and HJE are linked, plus Desipios hatred for NSBB, this is all a clever ploy to cause this board to explode for no reason.
  12. Funny how the votes are 50/50, but almost all the comments are geared towards Boston fans.
  13. I wouldn't hold my breath. Just because it was close in December doesn't mean it is now.
  14. When the inevitable Packers/Patriots Super Bowl occurs, I am not watching TV for 2 weeks. The one time I root for the Cowboys and they lose. I hate my life as it pertains to sports.
  15. Why would he sign a 4 year deal if his intention was to retire halfway through?
  16. Teams that he would be the best or pretty much as good as their number one starter? Washington (best) Agree Florida (best) Agree Kansas City (best) Agree St. Louis (best) Wainwright Texas (best) Agree Mets (best, assuming Pedro isn't healthy) Very debatable Baltimore (whether Bedard is there or not, they're pretty comparable) Bedard is much better than Lilly San Francisco (We don't really know what to expect from Lincecum right now. He's on the same level as Cain at the moment) No no no no no. Are we talking about Lilly?? Better than Lincecum and Cain?? Pittsburgh (As good as Snell) Disagree Oakland (depending on the health of Harden) Like you said depending. And of course The Cubs. He was probably our best pitcher last year. Now I'd love to hear you tell me the teams he would be the 4th best starter on, since I believe it was you that called him a #4 starter. Seriously, Ted Lilly? He was great last year I agree. But c'mon, 4.46 ERA and 1.33 Career WHIP. You really think he put it together finally at age 31 in his 9th season? Er. That as supposed to be about Hill. Oh haha. Well my comments in quotes still stand. I cannot agree that Rich Hill is better than Cain, Lincecum, Wainwright, Snell, etc. Only one of those 5 had a better ERA+ last season than Hill (Cain, by 3; Wainwright did have the same ERA+). Hill also had the best K/BB of them all. Wainwright really came on at midseason and finished strong I believe. I think he easily can be an ace

  19. BTW, I read this on Orioles Hangout, but it was posted by 2 different users who started 2 different threads. I did not hear the report myself.
  20. Bruce Levine just reported on ESPN 1000 that Roberts trade talks are off and that the Cubs have 0% chance of acquiring Roberts. He said the Cubs are looking to acquire Marlon Byrd from the Rangers to platoon with Pie in CF. He also said the Cubs are really trying to sign Jon Leiber.
  21. I knew it was a good idea to save this the other day: http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/5971/ohzc0.jpg I wish I could resize it and fit it on my sig without it being too big.
  22. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA CHAD FOX? At least Dusty isn't around to throw him 2 days in a row.
  23. The character issues, I assume? Hurting DLee (although I blame Eyre just as much for his girly throw), spurning the Cubs as a FA a few years ago, failing to single handedly beat the Astros in the NLDS in 2005, which allowed them to go to the World Series and then play dead for the White Sox, and his numerous drunken driving arrests. He probably screwed up a fantasy team or two of mine also.
  24. I would bring rocks to the games to throw at Furcal if we traded for him.
