Kinda weird, I remember Len and Bob saying that Utley doesn't strike out very much at all, yet hes struck out 3 times in like 6 ABs this series.

I briefly got excited when I noticed the Giants heart of the order was due up in the 10th....until I realized that the heart of the order is Wynn, Molina and Castillo

Man I get scared anytime there is a runner on for the big 3. Kinda like how I get scared anytime there is a runner on in front of the Cubs big 3, but I'm mostly scared they are going to hit into a double play.

Hopefully we will be laughing about this when the Cardinals lose like 15 of 20 games or something. I really hope that's the case.
  5. UMFan83
The Giants have only hit 4 home runs all year, so don't expect one here

Oh and the Brewers and Cardinals beat some pretty good pitchers today in Santana and Cain. Interesting to see if the Cubs follow suit by beating Hamels soon.
  7. UMFan83
Again, still the second week of the season, but Cardinals are 9-3 and Brewers are 7-4

Can't win em all (although I was hoping we would!) Good luck tomorrow with Hamels vs. Lilly..........

    Cmon Soto.

Anyone whose watched Fuku's ABs lately see a difference from the first week of the season? Have the pitchers figured out a way to pitch to him? He seems to be swinging and missing quite a bit as well as putting it on the ground a bit too much.

    Soriano is a terrible hitter.
  12. UMFan83
Well duh. If he ever sees an AB for the Cubs I'd be stunned. But we traded Craig Monroe for him so.
  13. UMFan83
His OBP looks really solid and hes got a touch of power. However he is 26 already. Not bad.

Tough series for you guys. I know if the roles were switched, we'd be in doomsday mode over here. That said, I really like some of your young hitters.
  15. UMFan83
Tyler Colvin 3-26 to start the season :(
  16. UMFan83
Carlos Marmol, but I think its harder to evaluate Dominican prospects as they don't have a background of high school and/or college ball and most of the time aren't drafted.

When Myers is at bat, I wonder if Len and Bob will mention that his SLG % is higher at home at it is at the plate?
  18. UMFan83
With all that money us tax payers give you guys, you'd think they'd provide you a fast internet connection.

Man Fukudome takes a pitch on 3-2 that I think only Lee and maybe Reed Johnson would even consider taking.
  21. UMFan83
You know considering how badly Hill started, I am happy that we are still in this game. This one had the feelings of sure loss in the first inning.
  22. UMFan83
Nice job fighting off that pitch for a sac fly Derrek
  23. UMFan83
Agreed. We gave him an extended look last year and he sucked then, so this isn't necessarily a sample size issue. You can't play the young guys just for the sake of playing them, they have to at least show something out there. That's coming off incredibly Dustyish, I imagine. It's not a matter of benching him perminantly. But when he's looking that foolish out there and getting overmatched in just about every AB, he needs to sit down for a bit. Pie still has talent, and I'm there is no way I'm giving up on him after 200+ ABs
  24. UMFan83
Can't win them all. At least we won games against Roy Oswalt, Brandon Backe, Tom Gorzelanny, and Zach Duke in the past 4 games. If we lose a few to Chris Sampson and Matt Morris, meh.

I tried to warn people coming in that we would have some starting pitching problems this year. Granted its only 9 games, but it already looks like this may be happening.
