I think its the Pirates approach against him.

I say give Lee one tomorrow and Ramirez Wednesday. Then they both have the team offday Thursday. If I'm not mistaken, I think Bob or Len said Lee would get Wednesday off so that he could have 2 full days off before next weekend's series. Fair enough. Then Ramirez tomorrow off, with Lee off Wednesday.

I would think if Reed got a 3-1 count against a righty, he would be smart enough to try to take a walk, not take an uppercut swing on the 3-1 pitch. Also, hopefully Lou got that scouting report too.

Dont worry as soon as we blow it open Marquis will do his best to blow it That's exactly why I hoped we could blow it open. This will be inning number 6 for Marquis. You can start thinking about using the pen soon if he struggles.

Which is the goal. Once he solidifys himself in the starting lineup with double steals, bunting for hits and excessive scrappiness, he can get back to working the count and putting solid wood on a majority of the pitches he swings at.

I am probably making excuses, but it might have something to do with the league switch. Or just sample size.

.305 .371 .452 .823 You won't take that as a lefty-masher line from half of a CF platoon? Id like to know where you are getting those numbers from because they arent Reed Johnsons against a lefty. .255 .375 .298!!!! for a .673 OPS is his numbers on the year. His OPS against a lefty is barely better than his OPS against a righty. Those are probably his career numbers, which indicate a much larger sample size than his numbers this year.

Which is why we have the best run differential in baseball, and they aren't keeping up despite a lucky-hot start. Still only 2 games behind though. After 1/4 of the season. So we are projected to finish 8 games ahead of them. This after seemingly everything has gone right for them (besides their injured pitchers)

I'd be worried if pitchers exclusively threw Soto breaking balls, because he does not look good with them.
