Greg Gabriel is such a freaking weirdo. He's on Twitter going on and on about Caleb Williams refusing to take any medical exams at the combine and how he's apparently the only player to ever refuse and what that says about his character or something. But the article he linked to even says Caleb plans to submit to medical exams with teams he meets with individually during the pre-draft process. He's just going on and on about it, bizarre.

Does anyone care about the Bulls season enough to discuss?

Pistons now 2-1 against the Bulls and 7-48 against everyone else. Good stuff. -
lol from down 6-0 in the 8th with no runs scored in 25 innings to tie game with 2 outs in the 9th on a PCA double
-
Depends on how much of the smoke about Caleb you believe in. Many "evaluators" put Caleb in a rare class of QB prospect that you don't see many years. I can see a situation where you aren't in love with Young so you trade down for Stroud or another QB. But if Caleb is really seen as a once every 5 years prospect, I question the decision to trade down to take anyone else. I don't know of any talent evaluators who have proven to be good enough at projecting QBs that having strong conviction on one who isnt Caleb is super meaningful. Or at least meaningful enough to ignore consensus to pick someone else.

spring training or not this is getting pretty ridiculous lol Is the offense refusing to score a run until Bellinger is in the lineup?
-
Gabriel has been really wrong on horsefeathers lately, hopefully his streak continues because that just sounds dumb as hell.
-
sounded to me like fields is gone. But both sides are so weird about this whole thing that they're going to believe what they want to believe.
-
Really wish the Cubs had a channel that you could pay for that broadcast all of their games including Spring Training.
-
Believe even if he has options he’s accrued enough service time in the MLB that he can elect for FA over accepting the assignment. A chance I’m wrong on that but either way his 40 man spot seems to be as pressing of an issue as his MLB roster spot.

Thank God Hosmer retired last week
-
NRI but interesting signing. Not as great as he was a couple years ago but still hit 17 bombs last year as a 1B/DH

Ok the Cubs replaced Stroman with Imanaga and Bellinger with Bellinger. Now just have to hope the handful of bullpen additions, Busch, prospects and Counsel can improve the Cubs this season. Definitely a good deal of depth and flexibility on the roster. As for the deal, happy they got it done. Kind of wish we had 2 years of security with the deal, but get why that wouldn’t have been appealing enough for Belli and why it’s not the worst thing for the Cubs to have options after another year of guys like PCA, Busch and others.

Cool to see but obviously means absolutely nothing.

Would love to see Davis emerge. At this point no one is really counting on him to be anything so anything we get from him would be awesome.

Yeah people on Twitter are spinning this as a big win for the Bears when all it means is that salaries are going to go up and less quality players are going to be cap casualties. Like the news isn't "the Bears have $30m more in cap space" its "everyone has $30m more"
-
I've barely been reading the Cubs discussion on this forum lately. Not because I'm mad about the offseason but because the offseason has made me apathetic about the team. Signing Jordan Montgomery and Bellinger would certainly make me more excited about the season.
-
im 99% sure he’s going to say that he never followed the Bears in the first place. I know I’m the one that posted this originally but we gotta stop making stories out of instagram follow rumors. This fields story ended up all over the internet. Most of the time when these stories come out they make waves and like 95% of the time it’s either a player trolling or the player already followed a player/team or never followed a player/team

We should probably have an Expansion Thread
UMFan83 replied to Bertz's topic in General Baseball Talk
It's interesting that SLC is a preferred option. Last I read they were concerned at the Great Salt Lake was going to dry up in 5-7 years and arsenic found in the soil was then going to blow through the city endangering its residents. I'm assuming its not a big issue if they are going to strongly consider awarding an expansion team there. -
lol that is so damn on point and well said
-
People on Twitter are claiming that Fields (and his dog?) unfollowed the Bears on Instagram lol so we’ve reached that part of the offseason
-
He's using the RSN issues as an excuse. He said somehing about all teams having challenges right now with RSNs. BS. At this point its pretty clear there's always going to be some issue in the way. They'll spend when they have a title caliber team and hang out below the luxury tax when they don't.
-
Definitely see Tom’s comments as positive for Bellinger. First that he’s even willing to speak publicly about a free agent target. Second that he’s using the media to put some pressure on Boras to get serious. My read is that the Cubs want him to complete the offseason. Doesn’t mean they’ll get him but seems positive.

This organization clearly has its horsefeathers together
-
knew this was coming after they got everyone all excited about the project
