  2. I'm not looking forward to facing Karstens on Monday.
  3. Pirates had runners on first and third with no one out and didn't score.
  4. How the hell does Tom Gorzelanny still have a rotation spot? That ERA is embarassing. What is up with 1 year flukes for Pittsburgh pitchers? Oliver Perez Zach Duke Ian Snell Tom Gorzelanny
  5. Zambrano...because when he's on his game, he is the best of the 3, including Harden, when you consider his all around game. When he is pitching well, he's getting ahead of almost every hitter and making them swing at pitcher's pitches. Then, he'll knock a HR in the bottom of the inning, or make a athletic play to beat the runner to the bag. He just has it all when he's pitching well. Now if Zambrano was getting lit up the last 1-2 starts before the start in question, I'd have to reconsider.
  6. Huh? They lost one player on offense. Yes it was a big player they lost but besides Rodgers how is it a unknown? Grant? I could see. They have one of if not the best WR group in the NFL. A improving line, and Donald Lee is starting to come into his own as a TE. Horrible argument. You act like you lost a starting left guard or something. I seriously think Packers fans believe deep inside that Rodgers is going to step in and pick up where Favre left off with only a small drop off in performance. The thing is, the Packers fans have no idea what bad QB play feels like and how it effects the entire offense.
  7. I'm proud of UMFan. :) My sanity can take a blowout much easier than a close loss.
  8. Looks like Accuscore had it as a 30% chance of Nationals victory. Much better odds than 0.8% chance of not making the playoffs. It was like 80% when we had the 4-0 lead. FWIW... 20% is still a crapload bigger than .8% Hmm... I guess the computer doesn't take Jason Marquis into account.
  9. They've beaten less Major League teams than we've lost to.
  10. Looks like Accuscore had it as a 30% chance of Nationals victory. Much better odds than 0.8% chance of not making the playoffs.
  11. At the end of the year, are you gonna care? If we pull a Mets like tank job and finish 1 game out of the playoffs this year maybe. But then again, there are 2-3 games I would without thinking pick over this one as the one game that got away.
  12. I'll take one of those 8 spots we put up vs. Florida last weekend.
  13. I think the idea is given a decent lead, pitchers should just throw strikes and pitch to contact... but I'm not really sure that Marquis can throw strikes consistently even if he wants to. Exactly. He's not a good pitcher. He almost never has good command so you can't expect him to throw strikes in any situation.
  14. That's from Brewerfan.net And they were right
  15. and i never undersand how grown (?) men (?) literally act like five year olds denied a lollipop when their first place, slam dunk to make the playoffs baseball team gets behind 6-4 in the sixth inning of a virtually meaningless baseball game. yet it happens. Have you never watched a game with you buddies or at a bar, no matter how unimportant the game is and got pissed off when the team strokes it? It happens. no. that sounds like a miserable time. I'm guilty of that. I went to Wednesday Cubs game with my 16 year old sister, 11 year old sister, 10 year old brother and dad and I sulked like a baby when they lost. I'm pathetic :)
  16. Again, I want to know how having a 4-0 lead is supposed to make Jason Marquis a lockdown pitcher...
  17. Without a doubt. Yes, how dare people expect to win a game against the worst team in baseball after leading 4-0. Ridiculous. The 2001 Mariners blew a 12 run lead to a crappy Indians team. yeah and did they win the world series? I DIDNT THINK SO Plus the Indians made the playoffs and took the Mariners to a full 5 games in the ALDS, so how does that make them crappy?
  18. I'm surprised when people say "OMG the cubs shouldnt be blowing 4 run leads", which is stupid because the pitcher protecting that 4 run lead has a 4.67 ERA and due to the law of averages is due to give up some runs. Just because the Cubs give him an early 4 run lead doesnt mean Marquis automatically turns into a lockdown pitcher.
  19. There's no reason we should lose even one game to these morons. 2 out of 3 in this series is not ok. Guess we should just pack it in then. Winning the World Series will be worthless without having a winning season against the Nationals. Seriously its baseball. The pitching matchup favored the Nationals, the conditions were conducive to hitting, and the Cubs haven't been swinging the bats that well lately (as per the cyclical nature of a 162 game baseball season).
  20. Does anyone love how Fukudome sits against leftys but is hitting 19 points higher against them?
  21. I don't mind him pitching Howry, but not in a 2 run game with the wind blowing out. 4+ run leads, or 3+ run deficits without extreme wind variables are fine.
  22. Meh, we have been playing better on the road than at home for the better part of a month now. Since July 24th Home record: 10-7 (assuming a loss today) Road record: 9-1
