  1. That's gonna happen. Hopefully some Brewers fans put it in perspective. If they need an inspiration, they can look 90 miles south and see a team that is trying to tank worse than the Brewers.
  2. 250,000*
  3. I was bad for a little yesterday, but after 5-10 minutes got better :) Why the sudden change? Was it Jack, Jim or something stronger? 8-) Xanax.
  4. And 7.5 in the [pretend it doesn't exist] Card I'm pretty confident that we're going to make the playoffs one way or another. I'd strongly prefer to get in by winning the division and thus having home field advantage. People that just say "we're in, stop worrying" need to think about the HFA factor (not that you're saying that... or maybe you are, I don't know). No I agree. Especially with the Dodgers in first in the west. They might actually have top to bottom better pitching than Arizona, but not a single one of their pitchers scares me to the point where I have to worry about facing them like Webb and Haren. If the Dodgers make it, we need to be the ones playing them...with HFA

  6. If the scores hold, the Cubs will be 3.5 games up in the division and 7.5 up in the Wild Card. That's enough of a slide Cubs, I expect you to have those leads up to 6 and 10 by next Monday.
  7. And they don't score

  9. I'm not at all shocked that you are providing pessimism in the Bears game thread considering how much pessimism you toss around in the Cubs game threads. It was a tremendous road victory against a team that very well could be representing the AFC in the Super Bowl this year. By your views, we should all be gloomy and doomy with dread on how horribly the Bears will perform in the next 15 games rather than share a little excitement of how well they performed last night. Ouch. If you were playing darts, you would have just missed the board completely. -1 respect I don't think so. If I want to form the opinion that this team has an opportunity to match what the 2006 team did, why try to rain on my parade? It's really no different than wanting and hoping to see the Cubs win the World Series. I like to enjoy the positives rather than dwell on the negatives. Unlike the verbiage in your sig. If only the entire world shared the same opinion as yours, we could all hold hands and sing in unity. Oh but wait, we don't, so thats why we have discussion forums. And again, you completely missed the point. I was saying I wouldn't base the opinion of the 2008 Bears on the 2006 Bears because they are completely different teams. But you used irrational bias to assume that I was blatently being a pessimist (AFTER A WIN! LOL) or trying to rain on people's parade or something. It's perfectly acceptable to disagree with me, and I welcome a discussion of different thoughts. But the random disgust you seemed to convey towards me was quite disapointing for someone who I previously held in high regard.
  10. You're right. Indy is only a 90 minute drive and the Cubs game ended at 3. I wish I would have thought about that. 2 games, 2 spots, 2 cities, both as the road team. Would have been fun (except the Cubs losing)

  12. That's not really a prediction now is it? Which one of those things do you think happens? If I have to answer honestly, I think you'll beat us. With Smith I think I would be more optimistic. But I was assuming an 0-2 start, so if you beat us and we don't look horrible, I'll live with it. I think both teams fans are skeptical of their team's performance, because I think the Panthers will win.
  13. People are talking like its just natural that the Bears had a bad team last year and they are going back to being Super Bowl contenders. This team is completely different than the 2006 team. New QB, new RB, new backup RB, all new WRs (besides Bradley and Davis), 2 new offensive lineman, new NT, 2 new safeties (considering Brown was hurt almost all year), the rest of the core is 2 years older. Really nothing that's "new" on the team can be considered an upgrade to their 2006 counterpart (unless you want to say Grossman). This is a completely different team and opinions should not be made from one game.
  14. Can we talk about the Packers/Vikings game in this thread too? It's a game...played on 9/8
  15. My expectations have been officially revised from historic failure to the 2001 Carolina Panthers. In that season the Panthers began the season with a road win vs. the previous year's NFC Championship runner up (the Vikings), only to lose the next 15 games in disappointing fashion. I also like to keep expectations as low as possible for as long as possible to avoid expecting too much. Thanks for depressing me... I hate you.
  16. Apparently, theres 1. They were just messing with you. Have you not been in any of the game threads this past week? Dont be so sure. It's called irrationality. People have it immediately following bad Cubs games. If you still have it the next day, well thats rare.
  17. Apparently, theres 1. They were just messing with you.
  18. I don't think anyone here thinks the Cubs aren't going to make the playoffs. I think some people accept the idea that it's possible that they can still blow their playoff shot, but I doubt you find a person who actually believes they won't.
  19. Yea cheap shotting with helmets has a tendency to knock people out of the game for a play or 2. I'm almost positive I saw Briggs and Mike Brown have similar plays. They hit hard, but didn't lead with there helmuts. whoever cleaned Addai's clock lead with the helmet, didn't they? Yup
  20. As I said in the game thread, because Houston is the home team, they'd have the choice. They would probably want to play somewhere relatively near Houston or near their next series, which is at Florida. Both teams have an off day Monday, so they might wait to see how the storm hits and move Friday's game until Monday too. My guess is its either played in Dallas, KC, or Atlanta

  22. Darn. Nice career Liebs!
  23. That's true, I'm a moron. If the Cubs haven't clinched a playoff spot by the second to last game of the season, we have more problems than where Rich Hill is starting in the NLDS.
  24. No Steve Smith!! Lookout for a letdown game. Lovie coached a brilliant well thought out game plan against Indy, but he knows Dungy very well and had a lot of time to prepare. The Panthers went into SD and beat the Chargers this week, they are legit. Should be a decent game that could go either way.
  25. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-080907-chicago-cubs-playoffs-rotation,0,7594541.story Umm didn't we get Harden for the playoffs??
