  1. Holy [expletive], decent job [expletive]
  2. Don't want extras. Yeah but extra innings tonight, or the Phillies tomorrow?
  3. Wtf why are people cheering for the Cubs to lose...do you want to face the Phillies?
  4. http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1145714/index.htm I don't believe in jinx's but I'm sure some will freak out now. http://i.cdn.turner.com/sivault/si_online/covers/images/2008/0929_large.jpg
  5. Good point, but I think Dunn was the 4th biggest deal behind Sabathia, Manny and Harden/Gaudin In hindsight, I'd probably agree. In measuring what each player brought to their respective teams before the moves were made, I still think Sabathia and Dunn were arguably the two biggest deadline deals. The key word in my last post was "arguably", btw. So, let's argue. I think at the time they were made, they all were equally important to filling the needs of their teams Sabathia - Best and most durable pitcher on the market, gave the team a dominant 1-2, and something to fall back on should Sheets get hurt. Dunn - DBacks biggest issue was power, and Dunn has a crapload of it Harden - Cubs probably could have won the Central without Harden, but the addition of Harden made them the clear favorites in the NL and legitimized their shot to win it all. Manny - Awoke a slumbering offense and gave the Dodgers a potent middle of the order bat that took the pressure off the rest of their young offense to step up and be the man. Impact in terms of how much better teams got because of the trade I'd say Sabathia, Manny, Dunn, Harden upon thinking about it further.
  6. Wow...definitely should have jumped on the bandwagon when I had the chance. Of course in 2000 I was 18 years old and considered $500 a lot of money, and lived in New Hampshire, but still. I can't imagine the season ticket waiting list going down anytime soon, even if there are a few down years in a row.
  7. Those with season tickets: How long have you had them, and how long did you have to wait to get them? I am assuming the waiting list has grown exponentially over the last 5-10 years.
  8. A praises forum doesn't mesh well with the bitter, cynical and sarcastic style this board is known for.
  9. CC said immediately after joining the Brewers, that he would give the Brewers 100% till the end of the season. Meaning he would do what it takes to get into the playoffs, even if that means going on short rest. I think CC feels and obligation to get the Brewers into the playoffs considering what they gave up to get him. Sure he can say that, but when he said that I don't think he imagined starting 4 times in 12 days.
  10. I think I'm going to schedule a few "meetings" at Bar Louie in the CWE. I walked by there today and they had a sign out that said "$5 buckets of AB products all day." That can't be right. But I think I'm going to find out. I've been there before. I watched the Cardinals tee off on Z there in August. Not many Cardinals fans there suprisingly. I love the couches you can relax on and watch the game.
  11. Garland made the AS team in 05 for the Sox Hinske and Willis won ROY with the Blue Jays and Marlins respectively.
  12. Same as last year's offensive superstar. Geovany Soto
  13. Good point, but I think Dunn was the 4th biggest deal behind Sabathia, Manny and Harden/Gaudin
  14. I think this is a common misconception...
  15. fixed. I'd imagine Jim Edmonds bar/restaurant in St. Louis would be a fun place to watch the games with a Cubs jersey on and a Howry-eating grin on your face :)
  16. The lesson for next time: don't commit felonies
  17. I'm pissed off about the times, but some of you have been acting like TBS started scheduling day baseball games when they took over the broadcast rights. Ever since the 3 division format started there have been weekday day baseball games. I've seen the White Sox, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Cardinals, Astros, and even our Cubs have to play weekday day baseball (remember Game 1 of the 1998 NLDS?) . I was more upset that we got the bad luck of the draw than upset that there is day baseball for the playoffs. If you don't like it and want to complain, fine. But no one was complaining about day playoff baseball last year when the Rockies and Phillies played all 3 of their games during the day.
  18. In a way, the Brant Brown game reminds me of the Soriano drop in Pittsburgh this year. Way different parts of the season though.
  19. I called them yesterday to make sure my acceptance wasn't "lost in the mail", but the really rude lady on the phone told me that if I was accepted I would have gotten an email, and not all people would have received rejection emails for some reason. I'm not sure if thats the truth or if she was making up some excuse to get me off the phone, but that's the explanation I got.
  20. Chicago area voters will vote 90-10 in favor of the Rays Other voters will vote like 60-40 towards the Rays
  21. Yeah, I love the fact that I'm not concerned about losing at all. Every morning when I wake up and catch my bearings, within like 30 seconds of waking up, my mind remembers the previous Cubs game. If the Cubs won last night, I'm in a decent mood, if the Cubs lost its blah. This morning, I started going into my automatic blah, before I realized that it doesn't matter.
  22. They went all in this season, why not? (I know.......) They just tied it up BTW, on a Kendall double
  23. The Brewers look so weird playing as the home team in our alternate park.
