  1. Olsen and Forte in the last couple years. Jury is still out on Chris Williams. Maybe Angelo's getting better? 2008: Williams - Hasn't played a game, jury still out Forte - Jury still out but looks like he's going to be at least somewhat of a hit Bennett - Hasn't made any impact, while other 3rd round WRs have 2007: Olsen - Solid pick Bazuin - Cut already Wolfe - Almost no impact on offense 2006: Hester - Obviously a great pick but was drafted as a DB/KR 2005: Benson - Huge bust Bradley - Cut I'd say, not counting Hester or the 2008 class, there are 4 misses, and 1 hit, and early guesses on 2008 there is 1 hit, 1 miss, and 1 no idea. Should have a better hit rate in 1-3 round picks, but its also a small sample size
  2. A lot of QBs must be having good years. I thought a 91.4 QB rating was pretty solid, but Orton is only 14th in the league with that rating. Here are his rankings with other QBs: Comp % - 62.2% (18th) Yards - 1,669 (6th) Yards Per Pass - 7.3 (13th) Yards Per Game - 238.4 (10th) TD - 10 (8th) INT - 4 (12th) QB Rating - 91.4 (14th) Now keep in mind, Orton has been improving every week, and the last 3-4 weeks we've really let him take the reigns and make things happen. Still good to see a statistically mediocre or slightly above average QB over the first 7 weeks of the season.
  3. The problem with drafting offensive is that Angelo has proved that he misses way more than he hits when he goes for offensive players in the early rounds.
  4. Theres a crapload of tiebreakers involved and I might have miscalculated somewhere down the line, but my best guess as to playoff matchups if the season ended today...just for fun. This assumes that Denver beats NE since Denver is the favorite BYE: NY Giants, Tampa Bay Carolina @ Arizona Washington @ Chicago BYE: Tennessee, Pittsburgh Baltimore @ Buffalo Jacksonville @ Denver
  5. This year is fun. It seems like both leagues are completely wide open right now. I couldn't even project the Super Bowl matchup or the playoff teams in each conference.
  6. The other thing I see is that Orton is much better at checking down and finding the second and third options. Grossman got better at checking down into the flats later last year, but when he started, he knew where his first and seconds receivers were and he was going to find a way to force a pass into one of their areas.
  7. I think its interesting to see how much control he has over the offense and how often he calls audibles at the line. He seems to have good success doing that, and seems to throw other teams off guard.
  8. No offense meant to dew, but I don't think the Titans are THAT good. They are about an 11-5/10-6 team. They have a really good defense and an adequate offense (great running game). Can they win the Super Bowl? Absolutely. But are they clearly the best team in the league? Nope. They just happen to be the last team to lose a game this year.
  9. The Chicago Cub Rays. New Colors are Yellow and Pink or The Chicago Devil Cubs. New colors are brown and green
  10. Wanna bet? I remember thinking this about a certain team in blue and for the NL Championship. Ok, Shields and Kazmir go down, Price McGhee/Wade Davis take over with Garza. Ok, Prior and Wood go down, Brownlie, Sisco/Justin Jones take over with Zambrano. But seriously, they have a good future in a competitive division...they don't have the financial advantage of the Red Sox and Yankees and the Orioles and Red Sox have a nice farm systems to boot. But stuff happens, it's tough to predict they will win 3 out of 6 pennants. And the Cubs had Alex Gonzalez, Eric Karros, Corey Patterson(Kenny Lofton), and co. running the offense. The Rays have a solid young offensive core to build on. I know what everyone is saying about the playoffs, and maybe I jumped the gun on 3/6, but what I meant was the Rays are going to turn from "cute story" to boring "consistent" winners in a hurry.
  11. Wanna bet? I would for fun. I can't see how the Rays don't get better with all their minor league talent and likely the ability to spend a little more money to retain their own/improve on their club. I realize its the AL East, but the Rays have the talent without a doubt. I wouldn't bet against them making the playoffs more times than not, but to win the pennant 3 times in 6 years is really a really lofty goal to set. No your right, but they have the talent and obviously they have the confidence to get it done. They don't have whatever infectious postseason disease the Cubs have. The Red Sox can make the World Series next year and have the 3/6 thing going with their super talented team.
  12. Yeah would have been funny to see the Cubs in that scenario. Lou brings Samardijiza in that situation and he walks the bases loaded and then gives up a grand slam to the pitcher on a 3-1 count. What the heck is a pitcher doing hitting in the top of 9th with the game on the line? ;) I know it doesn't make sense, but its the Cubs so it doesn't have to.

  16. Get used to this site guys. The Rays will likely win at the very least half of the next 6 AL Championships
  17. Nationals, Rangers and Mariners, you are the only teams that cannot talk trash to us. The rest of you, feel free to stop us in the street wearing our Cubs gear to openly mock and embarass us. Congrats Rays.
  18. Link to massive sawks' bitching plz. http://www.talksox.com/forum/game-thread-forum/11444-10-19-lester-hill-all-marbles-51.html
  19. If the Rays get 3 more outs, can you share with us all what it feels like to go to a World Series?
  20. Holy crap that was a bad call in an extremely critical moment. The ball was 3-4 inches off the plate and theres no way it was offered at.
  21. If the Red Sox can lose, this will be the first time I can ever enjoy the Red Sox being eliminated, as in 2007 they won it, 2006 they didn't make the playoffs, 2005 the White Sox beat them, 2004 they won it, and 2003 I kinda was cheering for them but even if I wasn't I was too dejected by the Cubs the night before.
  22. An inning or two ago, there was a ball hit almost to the warning track and Chip's call was "popped to shallow right." Or that Upton line foul in the 5th where he acted like it had a better than 25% chance of going fair when it clearly didn't
  23. This is a really entertaining game.
  24. Well, after taking 1 out of the first 6 points, the Hawks have now taken 5 out of the last 6 points. That leaves us at a completely .500 team. Edmonton is no slouch. Should be a fun one.
  25. I think the Rays have the momentum in this game, whatever that means.
