  1. I wonder if we voted him a playoff share?
  2. I'm glad we still have Brenly, but I feel bad for him. That was probably his best shot to get another managing gig.
  3. It's a hand though, isn't it? I could see the point in easing him back if he had a hammy or other leg issue, but with the hand, he's either ready to go or he's not. And seeing as its Vasher, more than likely he won't be
  4. Atlanta - 1999 (when it became 4 sport city) Boston - 2008 (Celtics) Chicago - 1998 (Bulls) Dallas - 1999 (Stars) Denver - 2001 (Avalanche) Miami - 2006 (Heat) Minneapolis - 2000 (when it became 4 sport city) New York - 2007 (Giants) Philadelphia - 2008 (Phillies) Phoenix - 2001 (Diamondbacks) San Francisco - 1994 (49ers) Washington - 2005 (when it became 4 sport city) Looks like San Francisco has us beat.
  5. Whats the new longest 4 sport streak? Chicago is at 10 (if you ignore the White Sox, but stupid media won't)
  6. Seriously. I want it to be so that all MLB teams except the Cubs have won it within a 30 year span just so its that much more painful.
  7. Ugh, I think all the pain and emotions I felt after the NLDS are rushing back into me. Not an easy loss to take when you see an NL team you were better than win it all.
  8. Please show a graphic that shows the Cubs are 0 for their last 100 seasons at championships, although I can't see how we'd get paid back immediately for that.
  9. I wonder if Bartlett was trying to catch them off guard, or he thought the ball got through the IF.
  10. So after all that stuff about Price not pitching the 6th because they didn't want him to bat, Howell hit for himself.
  11. Does anyone remember the last HR Ryan Madson gave up, as mentioned on August 28th? :)
  12. Anyone still interested in this series? At this point, I've had a change of heart. I kinda want to see the Rays come back and take this series. Since I am *still* feeling some amount of pain from the Cubs failure, I kinda want another team's fan base to feel pain. Although nowhere near as bad as Cubs fans, the Phillies probably have the second most amount of misery of any fan base. They also have collectively a similar mentality towards sports as Chicago fans do. Blowing a 3-1 lead after these hijinks and several days to mentally prepare their victory parade would be high comedy to me. Sorry any Phils fans that might be lurking and for some reason reading this thread. Nothing personal.
  13. Personally, I think Tyrus is more gifted offensively than Chandler. Chandler couldn't handle the ball to save his life. As someone pointed out before, Tyrus handles the ball somewhat competently for a big man. I see Tyrus's career peaks being something like 16-10. I guess that would translate to more or less Shawn Marion stats, but they are obviously different types of players.
  14. At this point I'm not worrying about Ty's scoring. If his scoring consists on all kinds of dunks, fine, I just want Ty on the court for 30-35 minutes being active on both sides of the ball. If he can eventually add a decent 10-15 ft jumper that's fine, but what now I want Thomas playing to his strength. Exactly. I want Tyrus to prove he can belong on the floor 40 minutes a game because he is active on offense and defense. His jumpshot, while by no means good, has improved a lot since he entered the league. Enough to the point where I don't hate him for taking an open jumper. Still not crazy about his moves around the basket, but he'll get there. Based on the preseason and yesterday's game, I think Tyrus has made some big strides in the offseason, and after Rose he is the player I am most excited to see this season.
  15. I would say that seems to be the popular move. At this point, you're not really taking much risk dropping Torry Holt, so why not.
  16. This is just about as good a chance as any for the Bears to take over the NFC North. I'm almost more interested into the Titans/Packers game than I am this one. I have this bad feeling that GB will rise up and take down Tennessee. If that happens, the schedule shifts into their favor with us still to play Tennessee, and then still with 1 left against Detroit.
  17. Agreed. He's 6'9" and shot 408 threes last year. In comparison, he only had 439 rebounds. I'd rather get Zach Randolph. I think the low rebounds have to do with the system he is in, but I could be wrong. Admittedly, he's never been a big rebounder.
  18. Not sure if someone already posted this but...
  19. Good. There are probably better LH RFs to target. I honestly have this strong feeling that we will be making a big push for Bobby Abreu this offseason. More good, not great, hitters! Theriot ® Lee ® Ramirez ® Abreu (L) Soriano ® Johnson ®/Fukudome (L) Soto ® DeRosa ® Blah we need more lefties, but at least we put one in the middle of the lineup
  20. Pretty sad when Michigan is the underdog against a winless (in the conference) Purdue. How bad is Michigan? For the season it has scored the least points and allowed the most points of any team in the Big 10. In conference play, it has scored the least points and allowed the second most. I never should have laughed at the misfortunes of traditional powerhouses Notre Dame, Penn State and even Ohio State when they had down years. Our time has come. I fear the good name of Michigan is tarnished forever. Probably just my usual 'sky is falling' attitude that you all know me for though.
  21. The problem is he doesn't hit from the correct side of the plate.
  22. My pleasure to help you out with your situation! Thanks for offering the tickets to me.
  23. We could argue about this all day, but here's my view. You get two points for a win and zero points for a loss. So what do you call it when you get one point? I'll call it a tie. If you're 3-3-3, you're exactly .500. You're right, we could argue about this all day. But my point is, I don't call any scenario where one team gets 1 point, and the other team gets 2 points a tie. It's not an outright loss, but its worse than a tie, especially in any game against a Western Conference opponent. Either way, we've emerged victorious in 3 of our 9 games, which is not a good pace.
