  1. Gah, one pass too many in OT. You gotta get the shot off there
  2. See what I mean about toying?
  3. Watching the Lakers is like watching a different version of the mid-90's Bulls. They are just toying with the Bulls right now. They really feel like whenever they get around to pulling away they will, as they did in the second. They underestimated the Bulls scrappiness and didn't hustle back on transition, letting the Bulls get some cheap baskets and get back into the game, but rest assured, the Lakers will be winning this one. The Bulls look like dwarfs compared to the Lakers front court, its amazing we've been able to get any rebounds over them. Pau Gasol is a nightmare for the Bulls, now I remember why Memphis always seemed to play us well even if their bad years.
  4. Don't you DARE!!!! ;) Nah, they will lose in the shootout.
  5. Good...its done and 3 months earlier than last year.
  6. Is it true his Myspace profile had a bunch of "Cubs Suck" pictures on it prior to being drafted?
  7. Bears 20 Rams 17 Ugly victory
  8. What the hell? It's just a bunch of player-speak nonsense. They went out, played baseball, and lost. Now they have to come up with things to justify it and to "explain" it to the press. But saying that they felt like games 1 and 2 were guaranteed victories? Come on... that's a bad quote Exactly. If that's his excuse, its a pretty dumb one. And if its the truth, then they were way too cocky and that angers me.
  9. According to another board Levine was just on ESPN 1000 and said Bradley is the only RF Hendry is looking at. Gotta love that .436 OBP and .999 OPS. His injury history is somewhat discouraging, but with our depth we could afford to have him play in only 120-130 games. BTW, what board was this? And consider me on board for Bradley. Even if he only play 110-120 games that would be alright since we have the felixibilty with DeRosa, Fontenot, Fukudome, etc. I'd much much rather have 110 games of Bradley than 145 games of Ibanez or somebody like that. It was on the cubs.com board here is the link http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-cubs&tid=346875 They guy says it was from ESPN 1000 a few posts below his original post. FWIW, the Prosportsdaily people are claiming they heard it too.
  10. I don't know. Toronto has been big on getting Bradley, and you gotta think if they lose Burnett they will have some money to spend. They could start a bidding war. They are more lenient on battery in Canada, so there's another factor. But seriously, Toronto has made Bradley their number 1 priority, they have money to spend, they have a DH spot to offer him to lessen injury risk. It will be hard to pull him away from them unless he really loves Chicago or really hates Toronto.
  11. If we got Milton Bradley, the bleacher bums would have to shape up or Milton might just have a word with them after the game. Love Bradley's 2008 numbers, but don't love the fact that he's played more than 101 games only twice in his career.
  12. What a surprise, a backloaded contract. Our payroll is going to be like $450M for 11 players in like 5 years.
  13. shut it...he wasn't even the best choice from the red sox Sure he was. Yeah, who was more deserving on the Red Sox? Youkilis? Drew?
  14. Somebodies pessimistic after that first game. Nah, young team on the road for the first time and Beilein's system has given UCLA fits each of the last three years. If Holiday or Lee can lock up Manny Harris like Westbrook did last year, the Bruins should be fine. If Michigan stays within 20 I consider it a success. A better UCLA team last year was losing with less than 8 minutes in the second half and only beat Michigan by 15. The flukiest fluke that ever fluked. The year before a worse UCLA team than last years (or equal) killed a better Michigan team than last years by 37 in Ann Arbor Beilein wasn't in Michigan then, he was owning UCLA at West Virginia instead. Seriously, his system confounds UCLA teams. A fair point, but system or not, WVU had more talent than Michigan does, and UCLA is a different team than previous year.
  15. Predictions for Demp next year? I'd say 15-11 3.83 ERA 1.31 WHIP
  16. If we are going to release Hill, we should sign Adam Dunn and just pretend like they were traded for each other.

  19. I think we'll be better than last year. Koshwal and Dar Tucker are Sophomores and I think were honorable mention for preseason All Big East. Of course, the last time I got excited about a DePaul tandem it was Sammy Mejia and Wilson Chandler, and that didn't turn out well. I think a decent season and a NIT bid are possible. I'll be there tonight too and probably drinking beforehand as well. Not sure if I'll be at McGee's though. I feel like I outgrew that place. I hate Wainwright too btw. He's an ok recruiter and a mediocre coach, but he' just not the guy that's going to bring DePaul back to prominence (if that's possible). Personally, I'm still really upset that Leito left for UVA a few years back. He was really building something solid...its not like he was coaching some no name school or something. Him leaving belittled the program into small time status. But then again, if Tom Crean can leave a very successfully built Marquette team, I guess its not as big of a shame as I'm making it. Though UVA is NOT in the same class as IU. Well, DePaul won by 11, but it was brutal. Dar Tucker had a monster 360 dunk and played well. The defense was OK, but the rebounding and "offense" were brutal. There is absolutely no offensive system, just a bunch of dribbling and ball screening. Garbage. It's going to be a long year in the Big East. DePaul built up a huge lead by having incredibly hot shooting from 3 point range. They were jacking up shots with a hand in their face consistently. The one thing they did do well was push the ball and initiate fast breaks, but whenever they had to run their half court offense, they looked lost and had no rhythm. That's when they started jacking up contested shots that eventually stopped falling in the second half. Dar Tucker looked really good, but I'm really surprised how poor Mac Koshwal played offensively. He was good on the glass, and really active defensively (got his hand on a lot of balls), but whenever he got the ball in the post, he failed. It will be a long season but there will be adjustments
  20. Carl Pavano and Gary Matthews Jr. think you're full of crap :)

  22. DeRosa probably doesn't have a lot of value but that's like the least valid reason why No its not. He's not a valuable barganing chip because its unlikely that he would be a long term solution for any team he gets traded to. Maybe if the third team was a contender we could discuss it, but its definitely a valid reason why. i think the fact that he only has one year left on his contract kind of made it a given that he wouldn't be a long term solution for anyone. do you think i'm talking about trading him to san diego? i'm not. i was talking about trading him to a contender in need of a 2B and then flipping the piece they get back to sd. I'm not, as I said above if the third team was a contender then its a different story. Uh my whole point was to trade him to a contender, I thought that was a given. There's no "if" involved. Why would a non-conender want him? Age isn't really that relevant because he wouldn't be a long term solution for the team getting him and he's coming off his 3 best seasons and a career year. That was my point. I still don't think a contender would find much value for him either. Some value but not a ton.
