  1. I have Lind and Snider on my team. If I was to drop one of them, which one would you guys consider dropping? Or would you recommend I keep them both?
  2. Funny because that's what the big boys did in their season opener. You think Shark is letting his demotion get to him. His comments at the start of Spring training implied that he thought he was a lock to make the team...now he's back at Iowa.
  3. It's just funny because 86 wins was good enough to win the Central the year before. But last year 86 wins in a more talented division is not good I guess.
  4. I wouldn't call it the end of the Brewers just yet. I still think despite today Manny Parra can provide good numbers for them. Yo is a stud and will be solid all year. Soup is what he is, he will eat some innings and give you a mid 4's ERA. The thing that's going to hurt Milwaukee is the economy. If they are hovering about .500 in July, they will have less incentive to take on salary to upgrade the rotation. That said, hearing the owners comments, I think they are serious about winning. I don't think they would spent the entire decade building the farm system so that they could only compete for 1.5 years and then back away. They still have some good talent in the minors that can help them or provide value in a trade. I for one kinda hope they do, as long as they don't win the division at the Cubs expense. I think a Chicago-Milwaukee rivalry can only be good for both sides (but especially the Brewers).
  5. That's the highest jumping trio we've had...because they're all black, get it. :D I saw a movie on this topic once. BTW, I noticed you posting on the WeareDepaul forums recently. That was you right? For the record I agree, I feel bad for Dar Tucker too. My friend is a huge Illini fan that says that Dar was thinking about coming there, and he can't believe someone of Dar's talent got stuck playing for such a crappy team.
  6. Cubs end the day alone in first!
  7. Wow the Cardinals took a 2-1 lead with the bases loaded 0 outs, and somehow the Pirates got out of it without any further damage.
  8. if so, that is a really good start by carpenter Yeah looks very near his CY Young form of a few years ago, he could easily win 16-20 games this year if he stays healthy. With him and a healthy Wainright going, color me worried.
  9. Tie game...still runners at the corners with 0 outs. Not looking good.
  10. I know nothing of the broadcasting business, but I have to imagine it would be quite difficult to break this type of news, and in a matter of seconds/minutes check on what your first commercial is and change it if innappropriate. I guess so. It's just such an odd coincidence that I feel like it could have somehow been avoided.
  11. Oh and btw, Theriot is leading baseball in batting average among players with at least 6 ABs.
  12. Just for fun, here are a list of players with at least 6 ABs this year that are still hitless: Mike Jacobs, KC - 0-6 Emmanuel Burriss, SF - 0-6 Alex Gonzalez, CIN - 0-6 Carlos Quinten, CWS - 0-7 Jason Kendall, MIL - 0-7 Pat Burrell, TB - 0-7 Dioner Navarro, TB - 0-8 JJ Hardy, MIL - 0-9 Milton Bradley, CHC - 0-9 Lastings Milledge, WAS - 0-9 Mark DeRosa, CLE - 0-10 Billy Butler, KC - 0-10 Garrett Atkins, COL - 0-11 The other 12 guys have combined for 11 BB and 3 R, while Bradley has 4 BB, 1 HBP, and 2 runs for himself.
  13. Seriously what the hell? How do things like this slip through everyone and get on the air (the NASCAR commercial I mean) Sometimes I think they just want to give material to places like deadspin to see if they catch it.
  14. Through 6 now. And of course the Cardinals game for some reason isn't showing up on my Extra Innings. All the other games work but not that one.
  15. Ronny Cedeno and Felix Pie both in the starting lineup today. Pie is 2-2 with a run scored and just got caught stealing right before a double was hit (cost the O's the tying run) Cedeno is 1-3
  16. Who the heck would be surprised that a 22 year old is still out at 12:30, gramps?
  17. Hit and runs are one of the most despicable things you can do to a fellow human being, especially if the other car was seriously hit. Who knows if they could have saved his life had they stopped and checked to see if they were ok. Thank God the person driving the other car was caught and arrested. Ugh....RIP :(
  18. I honestly don't know if DLee's numbers last year would be considered above average. .823 OPS for a 1B? Maybe if you factor in D. But he was 15th out of 23 qualified 1B last year in OPS.
  19. http://www.cubsmagicnumber.com/ I believe it's at 160 right now.
  20. Here is the guy Milton Bradley will be receiving tonight (henceforth known as "Milton's Black Guy of the Game"): In honor of Milton's great eye tonight, he will be receiving a black guy whose eyes, ironically, don't work. http://thebloodofjesus.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/stevie_wonder.jpg
  21. Who cares... pointless game. Sucks the Hawks were forced to lose in the pointless shootout (the stupidest thing to ever occur in sports). It's like the Cubs being tied after the 9th and being forced to go to a home run derby. Sucks the Hawks got another fake loss. GO CUBS! True, its not like the Hawks need to become better at the shootout for the playoffs, since that can't happen.
  22. 12th OTL for the Hawks this year :( (yes I realize this is the Cubs game thread.)
  23. See, this is why you don't give up on a player after one freaking game. I mean, he was swinging the bat well at the end of spring training.
  24. The Hawks just needed a point to clinch the 4 seed right? So we got it.
