  1. Can we sticky this thread as yet another reminder that SPRING TRAINING MEANS NOTHING AND YOU SHOULD NOT EVER DRAW ANY CONCLUSIONS FROM WHAT YOU SEE THERE. THEY MAY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE JUST PLAYING A REGULAR COMPETITIVE GAME OF BASEBALL BUT THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS WHY WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IS DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR SEASON GAME
  2. OK, I take back my comments in the first inning. Now Harden looks like he's dealing like he did back in July and August.
  3. 4 base runners in 2 innings with no runs for the Cubs and a completely unearned run for the Brewers maybe?
  4. If I was a pitcher, I'd spend my entire downtime from pitching practicing hitting. But I bet there are a billion reasons why that isn't a good idea.
  5. Step into one with a non-vital body part Rich.
  6. Mostly because they will work about him and Harden will be up.
  7. Thank you for at the very least sparing us Hill - Harden -Soriano due up to start next inning.
  8. Gah, hitting them well but right to people again.
  9. I don't think intent matters. If he bunts it and the funner moves up because of it, its a sac bunt. The other day I saw Hanley Ramirez try to bunt for a hit with runners on first and second and 0 outs, and later I read the other games thread where people were wondering why he was given a sac bunt (without seeing the play and knowing he was trying to bunt for a hit)
  10. Blah...I wonder if they tried to refine Rich's pitching style to pitch to contact more, because he hasn't seemed to miss many bats both in spring and today. He's throwing faster but doesnt seem to have the command and poise that he used to have out there. Of course I'll look like a moron when he strikes the next 3 guys out and cruises the rest of the game
  11. See...when people said "This could have only have happened in the playoffs", you can point to this game.
  12. he better start hitting before drunken cub fans start calling him the n-word and he subsequently bashes their brains in with a bat. Yeah....I normally sit in the LF bleachers when I go anyways, but if Bradley still doesn't have a hit on Monday, you better be certain I am sitting as far away from RF as I possibly can. I think I'll sit under the scoreboard at the top of the bleachers so I can jump in there and hide if things get heated.
  13. 0-10 Jock only started 0-13 before we all went nuts on him. Although technically he was 0-0 before we started hating him. Bradley is still awesome.
  14. Looper isn't really as good as he's looked for the first 2 batters. But he made Sori and Fuk look bad.
  15. Walked one and hit a guy! The bum! :-)) He only went 1-3 at the plate too. Talk about non-contributor.
  16. No sorry please pick another game. I'm going to Saturday's game and the Cubs have never lost when I've seen them in Milwaukee.
  17. That's the highest jumping trio we've had...because they're all black, get it. :D I saw a movie on this topic once. BTW, I noticed you posting on the WeareDepaul forums recently. That was you right? For the record I agree, I feel bad for Dar Tucker too. My friend is a huge Illini fan that says that Dar was thinking about coming there, and he can't believe someone of Dar's talent got stuck playing for such a crappy team. ou Ya that's me. Die Hard DePaul fan who has had it up to here!! Written some letters and emails to the AD without a response. That place is a joke. It's weird, DePaul is the White Sox to the Illini's Cubs. Strange stuff. Oh well, if they ever get a president/AD who actually want to put an effort into the program, they can resurrect it. I don't want to derail this thread even though it's pretty much dead anyways since the game is over, but I agree the place is a joke. It's impossible to say one thing positive about the program right now. At least if they fired Wainright, you could at least say we're taking a step in the right direction. But the fact that they secretly signed him to an extension and then didn't tell the public until a year later, and told it to us to basically say "we aren't going to fire him because we kinda sorta signed him to an extension awhile back". Just unbelievable. I never thought I would agree with someone who basically is wishing that a top player would leave my favorite school's program because I feel bad for them making a bad decision to come here, but I'm right there.
  18. You kind of implied it with your original statement. Or at least implied that their season was less than good, and then the argument you used is because they finished in 4th place. Anyways, I probably shouldn't have jumped into this argument, I'm kinda drunk and felt like posting in this thread. It's a pointless argument.
  19. Oh that what Yesterday's is? I was confused when the OP mentioned it. I walk by that place all the time, never went it. Looks pretty run down.
  20. Brett Lawrie, but he's ways away and he's in the lower half of the top 100 prospects. They also have Jeremy Jefferies, who BA has #100 in their top 100 prospects. Yeah its gutted a little, but they have enough pieces to put together for a trade using Gamel and/or Escobar as centerpieces. They are much deeper than the Cubs farm system at least. Last offseason really killed them. I'd personally be devistated if I was a Brewers fan and I lost Sheets and CC and only got 1 sandwhich pick for them instead of 4 first rounders. Brutal.
  21. Definitely not a banner season. Nor was the 83 win season that got them in the playoffs and winning the World Series in 2006, but it wasn't a poor season just because they finished in 4th place. Also, it would help if the Astros didn't play one less game. Maybe if they lost that game to the Cubs, the Cardinals could have finished in 3rd and thus had a "good season"
