  1. They say the key to hitting is to "hit it where they ain't". Well I guess against the White Sox its "hit it right to them"
  2. Runner on 2nd 1 out, but you just know that no Cub is going to get an RBI hit with RISP. Edit: Just kidding!
  3. I've never seen a baseball team that had more (established) pitchers come down with a complete inability to throw strikes consistently. Between Dempster, Gregg, Marmol, Heilman, and others, I wanna pull my hair out just thinking about it.
  4. Eh, he's been ok. But he's 1-3 with something like a 5.90 ERA vs the Sox in his career, so yea. A bit part of that is the 2.1 IP 8 ER performance (or something like that) that he had against the Sox last year.
  5. Dempster has struggled at times in the first inning and then put it together the rest of the game so we'll see how that works out.
  6. Odd...comcast was showing an interview with Jake Fox in the locker room and one of the reporters asked him for his take on the Milton Bradley/Lou thing. That's really random, why would they ask him about that? And even if he did have a unique perspective, why would a rookie that's been up for 2 weeks share it with the media. Dumb questions...
  7. Bradley has not driven in a run in over 2 weeks
  8. He doesn't seem like the type of player that gets you to the next level does he? I think Rashard Lewis is going to be most hurt from that move.
  9. We have to take Blair, but I just have a feeling they won't. Maybe Ellington...
  10. Eventually.... Not a good pick for a team that wants to compete next year
  11. I think that OKC is either going to make the playoffs next year or they are going to get so much playoff hype from the media that they will fall flat on their faces.
  12. No trade as of yet..I'm thinking either they are copying the Detroit Lions model or there is a trade in the works.
  13. If Shaq wins the title, Kobe should say "Shaq can't win it without a premier outside player" :D To which the "Big Shaqtus" would reply that Bryant can't win a title without Phil Jackson....So where is the line drawn? In the "nobody cares" category Until a superstar picks 4 people out of the stands before each game and wins a championship that way, I don't care
  14. It's no 1908... It probably has something to do with the fact that the US didn't have any sort of organized national team until the late 80's.
  15. That's crazy. Fox and hoff drove in 8 of the 12 runs the Cubs scored that series.
  16. No we were swept in 06 by the World Series Tigers (you may remember it as Mark Priors last major league start to date). In 2001 we lost the last game of our series vs. Detroit making a 7 game losing streak against them.
  17. It's ok Geo...couple of bong rips and you'll feel better about it.
  18. Jersey I think the falloff he is talking about is from last year to this one.
  19. Know I've ripped people recently for saying the cubs are playing with no heart, but the phrase "going through the motions" keeps going through my head during each of the numerous mental errors the Cubs have made today. Seems weird to say this after all the exciting comebacks past weeks so I'm probably wrong here but I feel the team has lost the winning mentality they had last year. It starts with the manager saying "I have no idea how to fix this" and sounding resigned in his post game news conferences and filters through the team after every bad loss like this.
  20. There are 8 teams worse than us in OPS Not with RISP. Which is arguably all that matters. so home runs doubles and triples without RISP don't matter? Fukudomes runscoring triple doesn't matter? Hitting with RISP is very important but not important enough to say "were dead last in ops" and not add "with risp". More than anything I was just trying to clarify that we're dead last in OPS with RISP, not in general OPS. Not gonna debate that triples aren't valuable or whatever, as that wasn't my point. no I was originally was arguing with the poster who keeps saying "we are dead last in ops" which is very misleading. Your post seemed to defend him. I agree hitting with RISP is valuable, but who the heck knows how to even fix that except getting better hitters.
  21. dontrelle Willis is pretty bad but he doesn't have 5.5 years left on his so yeah. Barry zitos is pretty bad too.
  22. We are dead last in baseball in OPS. It doesn't take much to be better than us right now.
