  1. Blackmon continues to be a Cubs killer even if his damage has been limited. 3 really strong ABs for him today.
  2. Lot of balls in the air (for both teams) during a game with the wind blowing in hards.
  3. It's really only his 2nd? Was there also a misplay or something that was called a hit? I swear there's been something in every game he started at 3B. Not to mention several errors in Spring Training.
  4. Granted, I haven't actually seen any of Morel's errors yet but it sounds like he's blatantly atrocious out there. I mean sure give him a little more time but he's played 200 games in his career at 3B, its not like its a completely new position.
  5. Fun fact: this series will be the 4th, 5th and 6th straight games at Wrigley Field against the Rockies. Colorado made their only appearance at Wrigley in the final home series of the season and are now playing in the Cubs home opener.
  6. I also like that the wind is blowing in. Certainly will help keep the ball in the yard
  7. Finish a week where they beat the Pacers and TWolves while losing to the Wizards and Nets
  8. Can’t help but share this ridiculous assist by Blackhawks prospect Frank Nazar
  9. Glad to get one this weekend. Would have been an annoying home opener after getting swept. Especially if there are one or multiple rainouts. Good stuff
  10. Joey Bart DFA'd by the Giants. Remember how disappointed I was when I found out the original rumor that Bart was in the KB trade was wrong.
  11. There’s many reasons why the outcome might be different this year: 1. If you believe in the impact of a manager, the Cubs supposedly upgraded 2. Last year the Cubs fairly significantly underperformed their pythag record. Even if they played exactly like last year they should hypothetically have a better record. 3. The vaunted farm system is likely to have several guys ready contribute this year that were not ready last year 4. The usual luck related stuff like injuries can play a role in outcomes being different (so far so bad there) 5 The potential to do more at the deadline this year, with the assumption that the Cubs are more clearly a buyer Other things I’m missing I’m sure.
  12. Yeah I'd mostly agree with that. Clingan had a massive effect on that game. He probably helped his draft stock quite a bit tonight.
  13. Ugh, Smyly is totally going to be the 5th starter isn't he?
  14. There’s no reason the offense can’t be as good as it was last year if not better. They’ll have to outslug some teams but they’ll be fine. Can’t really take much from 2 games…if these games happened in mid-June it would just be one of those stretches.
  15. Counsell is sitting there wondering if the $8m was worth trying to manage a team with no pitching.
  16. I know we had to use the pen more than we wanted to on Thursday but Counsell needs To balance trying to get innings out of Kyle with having any shot of coming back in this game
  17. At least we get the Rockies at Wrigley next? it will be the 2nd straight series at Wrigley against the Rockies
  18. Today at least. I’m sure he’ll have vintage games too but definitely a little nervous especially with Steele and Taillon out
  19. We cannot afford Kyle to not at least be a number 4ish caliber starter
