  1. Yeah no one was including an injury to the "QB of the defense" in their projections. I don't think anyone is basing their revised predictions on anything else but that.
  2. Possibly. Briggs did play middle linebacker as his primary position all through college.
  3. What time does Lovie do his Monday afternoon presser? I want to say 4:00 but I'm not positive.
  4. Obviously this year isn't over at all, but I gotta wonder what the future of this defense is now that we'll have another year of aging for the core of the unit. This is a defense that was developing in 2004 around injuries, peaked in 2005, was strong in 2006 and has been a bit of a disappointment but still somewhat good the last 2 seasons. You also have to consider the last major piece that was added to the defense was added in 2004. We have developed some starters since then but none of them (Pisa, Payne, Bowman) are essential pieces. So where do they go from here?
  5. Really? I thought the "Jamar Williams has a load of potential" bandwagon ended two years ago and the "Jamar Williams is a bust" bandwagon is in full force.
  6. Losing Urlacher is absolutely devistating to the Bears IMO. He might not be the team's best or most important player, but I think MLB is the most important position in the Cover 2, needing a superior size and speed person to be able to do everything the scheme requires. I just can't see anyone on the Bears roster replacing him even adequately, or anyone the Bears could sign being able to pick up the scheme and be able to run it even half as well as Urlacher. Unless Cutler shows us a completely different QB than he showed us last night and we can win several shootouts, I'm thinking this might be a lost season. Just one man's opinion, and I know you all know me as a pessimist, but that's just what I'm thinking when I read that. I'd love to be wrong.
  7. I'm reading that Pisa will probably be out at least 3 weeks as well. Our LBs go from strength to major weakness for awhile. That plus a tough schedule to start the season = trying hard to fight off pessimism.
  8. BTW, Jay Cutler's QB rating tonight was 43.2, which is the second lowest of his entire career. Welcome to the Bears.
  9. Derrick Rose, whatchu got?
  10. BTW, for the Packers fans reading this, I have a Bears Nathan Vasher jersey that I'm willing to sell/give away if interested.
  11. I have watched this video 10 times and I have no idea why that's funny? Because the ref is laughing about something?
  12. Haha, did you know that Rex Grossman, for as wild and crazy as he was, only had one 4 INT game with the Bears, the MNF game against the Cardinals. Jay did it in his first game. Woo hoo!
  13. Fun that Cutler was intercepted twice within FG range today and we lost by 6 points huh?
  14. Yesterday, Michigan won, MSU lost and OSU lost...perfect day. Today, Bears lost, GB won, and the Vikings won....anti-perfect day. At least the Cubs won??
  15. Why is that a bad call? I would think people would have been more pissed if he ran up the gut for like the 8th straight play and got stuffed. People would have asked why they didn't try to run outside. If you catch the defense right it can really be an easy score (see USC last night). That said, Forte wasn't running to the outside very well all game, I'll admit that.
  16. All the Chicago radio stations have postgame shows. I'm listening to http://www.670thescore.com 's show OB and Doug must be totally flipping out Doug is strangely calm. Maybe I turned in too late. He is usually much more angry even in wins. Classic Doug was after the Bears playoff win over Seattle, yelling about how they have no shot of beating New Orleans with that crap performance.
  17. He had a great view while having his head down motioning to Wolfe. But the point is that the 5 yard flag wouldnt have given the Bears a first down and they would have punted anyway. Which is why they tried to run to Wolfe hoping he could surprise them and run for a first down. If they punt the ball and 12 men is called, they will re punt the ball 5 yards closer to their end zone. I'm not saying I agree at all but that was the logic.
  18. How the [expletive]? We outplayed GB. Every stat but the score (and INT's) were in our favor. Really, if we just cool it with the turnovers and direct snaps to the RB, we'll win those games. First game of the season, lots to clean up. Cutler may have been the worst thing in that game...and we all know he can play. He had a terrible game tonight. Next one will be better. Exactly. No offense to their fans but GB didn't impress me tonight. That's not saying that they didn't also play a bad game, or that the Bears might have done a really nice job against them, but I feel better about the division than before the game. However, I would have felt 10 times better with a win obviously.

  20. Guys on Comcast just said that Urlachers injury diagnosis "doesn't sound good"
  21. Is it weird to lose a horribly played game like this and actually feel BETTER about the team than before the game? Honestly that's how I'm feeling.
  22. Dude you're comparing preseason (the world where the Lions go 4-0 and the Packers never punt) to regular season. Neither the Giants or Broncos were showing much of anything they would run in the regular season. Besides in both the Giants and Broncos games, he threw passes that went right off defenders hands, at least one that was guaranteed to be a pick 6
  23. unnecessary comment. shut up
  24. Did you post this with a straight face? I agree with him. Instead of INTs, those same throws would have bounced off the defenders hands and went to Bears players for TDs. Seriously though, it's not a completely outrageous thing to say. The outrageous thing would be to say that overtime Orton would win more games than Cutler. Orton and his conservative game play might have earned the Bears a different outcome, but I bet the Bears win multiple games that Orton couldnt win this year.
  25. You're completely correct....if your QB throws 4 picks and people are blaming them all on someone else, you are an idiot. Yes the WRs had much to blame on a majority of the picks but it takes 2 to tango. At least 2 of those picks are on the receivers. That last one, and...one more...I forget which one now...freaking 4 picks. There was one down the middle of the field though that there was no receiver even there....and well...4 is too many to keep track of. I don't know on the 4th. That said, he's gonna have to learn that our WRs aren't experienced and undertalented and he's not going to be able to force throws like he did in Denver. I understand that he was avoiding a sack at the end but that play was going nowhere most likely, He needs to eat it and deal with the consequences.
