  1. BUFF!!!! Love it! I thought they were being too patient, but it worked out. Like Foley said, stupid penalty, make them pay!
  2. In a way this is kinda playing out like game 2 but the roles reversed. Canucks jump out to a 2-0 lead, and then the Hawks dominate pretty much the rest of the game.
  3. We're not going to win this game playing the way we are right now.
  4. See I would have preferred the Hawks remain in their funk and win 2-0, but that's just me. :)
  5. You can feel the momentum shift. Crowd is really into it now.
  6. Dammit, what a lucky bounce. 2-1. We really need to play better than this.
  7. Who wants to bet if the Canucks do score a goal it's not gonna come on a well executed play but come seemingly harmless shot from the point.
  8. Great period for buff too. And not just because he scored. He was all over the place the later half of the period.
  9. this definitely looks like one of those games for Lu where he gives up way too many rebounds and has trouble getting the puck covered.
  10. That was quite a stretch there for Niemi!
  11. Whatta save! Edit: Where is everyone?
  12. SCORRRREEEE!!!! STEEG!!!! Thank GOD they didn't blow the whistle like I figured they would on the road.
  13. ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Another "too many men" penalty on the Hawks? How hard can this be??
  14. Well, even a good team is going to look piss poor over the course of a 162 game season, and lose to bad teams. Not that this is necessarily a good Cubs team. the problem is that by far the cubs easiest part of the schedule is right now and almost over. We are going to be having way too many "impossible" stretches in the coming months. If we can't beat the pirates nats and astros how are we going to fare against the cards and phils? A somewhat .500 team after playing this schedule makes me feel like we are dealing with an 85-90 loss team when all is said and done How many impossible stretches can there really be in this schedule? The NL sucks this year. What teams do you consider good? The Phillies, Cardinals, Giants, and Dodgers would probably be my top 4. I'm not sure any other team in the NL is even better than us. We're going to play like 40 games against really good teams. Fair point. I'm just saying the schedule we've played so far is almost all teams you should be beating up on. We'll have to see how we're doing in 3 weeks after we get done playing this upcoming stretch 2 vs. COL 2 @ PHI 3 @ TEX 3 vs. LAD 3 vs. STL Who knows we could be playing good ball and play .500 or slightly over in that stretch.
  15. We'll see. Their performance to this point does not dictate the rest of year since it's still only the first of May. If Aramis ever wakes up and Lou gets wise and starts playing Soto more and higher in the lineup you could see this offense be much more consistent. Nothing is set in stone at this point. you are right nothing is set in stone. That's why they play the games. But it's looking increasingly unlikely that we are going anywhere. Even if we get better hitting, can we assume that the pitching will hold up. Will gorz and silva have under 3 eras all year? Hell the pen hasn't even had the chance to suck for us lately. And despite all this we could get our crap together. But don't expect to fatten up on crappy teams to get back in a playoff race. Well have to play .550-.600 ball against a schedule that is packed with contenders. So unless we suddenly play like a top 1-2 team in the NL it's gonna be tough. Were not going to be able to win 85 games and take a weak division this year.

  17. Probably the easiest schedule in the majors so far. What's gonna happen when we play the Phillies and Colorados of the world?
  18. what's left of the flyers suck.
  19. Uh oh.....Ted looks more like second start Ted than first start Ted. Watch this be the game we get 7-8 runs......and give up 10.
  20. Can't he do something about it? I'm sure someone out there is willing to pay him money to pitch a product. I mean it sucks that he grew up in the wrong time period, but he also didn't play in a time period where football was 24/7/365. He probably used training camp to get in shape, when nowadays players show off how buff they got during their offseason training programs. I'm sure Sayers would have been happy to work year round to make the big bucks, but I'm just stating what a different game it is today. Walking around moping isn't going to help him. I don't think either of us can speak with any degree of certainty about what Gale Sayers has really been doing with his life since he retired. Assuming he's "walking around moping" and hasn't done anything else is a pretty big leap. I don't know anything about the guy. For all I know he's a whiney little ass. But he's also a famous former Bear that probably gets a mike shoved in his face all the time and he's bitter about how the NFL takes care of its veterans. Would I prefer that he not come off like this so much? sure. But there might be a whole lot to him that I just don't see. You act like he's being forced to talk. I see him on Bears postgame live, or appearing on Chicago Tribune live or various media outlets. If he's pissed about how the NFL takes care of its vets, I haven't heard him complain about it once (maybe I just missed it). It's one thing to be bitter about that, and its another to always be down on the Bears for seemingly no reason. I wish I could make a more compelling argument but I can't recall specifics as to what he's been negative about in the past, but it seems like every time I hear about him he's complaining about one thing or another.
  21. It would certainly lock in his reputation as the Nick Saban of college basketball. Apples to oranges. I would hate it for Kentucky if Calipari leaves and Kentucky faces potential sanctions. Says the Alabama fan
  22. Well, he must be lobbing pitches up to the plate so swinging would seem to be appropriate. He's allowed 31.9% LD percentage so far and 35% of his fly balls given up have been for home runs (which translates to teams batting .384 off of him and him giving up 3.26 HR/9 so far). His K/BB ratio is actually pretty decent but he's still getting pounded. Nope. 95MPH over the middle of the plate. The first three innings you'll be shaking your heads. The second time through the lineup, he'll start using his curve and missing, and everyone will sit on the fastball. Want to make a gentlemen's bet that he earns at least a quality start tonight for the Buccos?
  23. He did fine with San Diego when he was traded for their stretch run. Yeah but when he realized that he was doing so well, he purposely tore his ACL or whatever he did and missed the rest of the season.
  24. It was way too high you racist [expletive] /bradley
