  1. I don't know why everybody is convinced that LeBron is going to Miami. He's not leaving Cleveland. Fixed for 3 weeks ago. Completely different situation. Melo isn't a free agent. And won't be until after a forthcoming lockout. He has no idea how much money he'll be able to get after that after whatever the new CBA says.... He has an extension offer on the table in Denver. He'll take the sure thing. Will he? I don't think any of us know that. It's not really safe to assume that the athlete will make the logical decision after what we've seen over the last couple of weeks. That's not even a slight at LeBron but more so a guy like Richard Jefferson, declining his $15 million player option, only to return to the same team at a far reduced rate. Plus, 'Melo has a New York state of mind! What RJeff did made sense. He turned $15 million in guaranteed money to I think $38 million in guaranteed money. With the CBA expiring after this season and 2 disapointing seasons in a row under his belt, there was no guarantee that he was making anywhere near $38 million in his next contract.

  3. I'm going to cry, and tape myself crying, and then post the video of me crying on NSBB if he goes to the Knicks.
  4. I don't think it needs to be as big of a deal as these people are making it, but it is awesome to see all these greats basically ripping Wade and James for teaming up together. They can be as cocky as they want to but that has to hurt them a little hearing people like Jordan and Magic publically decry this arrangement.
  5. Chicks dig the sac fly, and Soriano will be paid like the KING of sac fliers.
  6. I don't think Hendry signed Soriano to be a designated sac flier. In fact, I bet when Hendry signed Soriano he would have promised Soriano didn't have to hit any sac flies if he put up a +.900 ops every year of his contract. Hendry should be fired but there are about 4,000,000,000,000 better reasons than this.
  7. I believe this will make us what 0-3 in series against the last place Astros this season? Yet we are 1-0-1 in series against Philly?
  8. I thought I read somewhere that the Bears signed a QB too... Edit: Mike Teel
  9. Kosuke wasn't considered a prodigious home run hitter. I don't know what prodigious is in Japan, but he hit a HR every 16.27 ABs his last 4 seasons in Japan. That'd probably put him in the top 10 in the MLB this year.
  10. How much better would our D-line look with Alex Brown....blah.
  11. Can you imagine any thread getting 69 pages in a month right now? Yeah....a thread in other sports or social.
  12. Is that more or less embarrassing than having a press conference with no press? Or calling a press conference to introduce a new coach who hasn't accepted the position yet, and doesn't?
  13. So they're basically making an example out of the Devils. I'm betting they'll just have to spread out the salary a bit more so it's not such a steep dropoff near the end. I don't think the Devils want at all to do that because it makes it that much harder to dump him when he's useless at an older age. Also for Kovalchuk, he will make less money as well as more of that money is in years that he doesn't plan on playing. That said, the more I think about it the Devils will find a way to keep him to save themselves the embarrassment of having a press conference to introduce a player that isn't going to be on the team.
  14. Should we expect all your posts to be pimping that website? lol the "article" is just entirely copy and pasted from a Bleacher Report article.
  15. I know that Hossa's deal was investigated by the league but deemed ok. I think it has something to do with the fact that it's a 17 year deal with however many years of it at a huge dropoff in salary than the first 10+ years. Or maybe it's just that the NHL sees this spiraling out of control and is making an example out of the Devils. Either way crazy twist. I wonder if he ends up in NJ now.
  16. A replacement 1B for one. But who is out there? They have money freed up with Lee and Lilly gone and there's still no word that the Ricketts won't shell out extra if need be. It's not like there are any monster FA's out there that they need to have a ton of money for. I'm not saying I want them to extend Aramis beyond his crazy deal, but I wouldn't mind it at all if he goes bat [expletive] crazy good with the bat the rest of the year and he doesn't opt out. Yeah I mean I want Aramis to stay with the team. I was just playing Devil's advocate. I am just excited that we will actually be getting decent sized contracts off the books this offseason, even if it is 2 of or bigger contributors, at least historically. Of course now that we know that Hendry is possibly staying, I could see him resigning Lilly and Lee to 3 year deals.
  17. I assume that in this scenario, the Phillies believe Domonic Brown is ready to come up and produce reasonably close to what Werth was doing. Sure, but it's still a bit of a gamble to throw him in there when they desperately need offense. If they were leading a playoff race instead of 7 games behind ATL in the East, and 3 games behind Cincinnati in the Wild Card, I'd say its a good move where you can afford to give him 2 months to fit in. But they desperately need to win and win now if they want to make the playoffs.
  18. According to Buster Olney's twitter. Looks like Oswalt? Jeez... Halladay, Hamels, Oswalt are the top 3 in your rotation?
  19. If they are trading Werth (which is really odd considering that their offense has been struggling and Utley is out for awhile I believe), it has to be for Haren. Those other 3 I don't think I'd give up Werth for.
  20. I just hope the Cubs realize how important Ramirez is to this team... I remember how pissed I was when we almost lost him a few years ago. I remember the epic Aramis Ramirez to test free agency thread, where we all jumped off the cliff. Yeah I remember that night before he became a FA being really sad because he decided to test FA. Everyone figured a team like the Angels would throw $100 million at him and he'd bolt, but then the very next morning we find out he takes a hometown discount to stay with the Cubs.
  21. Would be funny if he finished the year with an over .850 OPS
  22. Yay insurance. Team is starting to become slightly enjoyable to watch, if only because it's now possible for them to come back while down. Still feeling the malice overall though.
  23. Geovany Soto last 34 games: 36-106, 16 R, 10 2B, 8 HR, 23 RBI, 16 BB, 3 IBB .340/.447/.689/1.136 That's over 1/5th of the season hitting at that level.
